Sofia Vergara's Ex-Husband Is Engaged Nearly 2 Years After Their Divorce

Joe Manganiello is ready to take another shot down the aisle following the highly publicized end of his marriage to Sofia Vergara.

The Hollywood hunk popped the big question to his longtime girlfriend, Caitlin O'Connor, nearly two years after they first met in September 2023. That same year, Manganiello and Vergara ended their relationship.

Sofia Vergara tied the knot to Joe Manganiello in November 2015 in a Palm Beach, Florida, ceremony. They welcomed no children during their marriage; however, the actress has a son from a previous relationship.

Manganiello confirmed his engagement to O'Connor at the San Diego Film Festival while accepting his Career Spotlight award. His acceptance speech was filled with his love for his fiancée, whom he thanked for her support.

Manganiello went further to confirm their engagement date in an Instagram post, giving truth to the engagement rumor sparked by O'Connor in June. She was photographed with a diamond gem on her wedding ring finger while on a trip to Italy with the "Magic Mike" star.

Sources also told TMZ that the couple were excited to head down the aisle and begin a new chapter in their lives. The engagement news comes a year after Manganiello finalized his divorce from Vergara in February 2024.

Manganiello and O'Connor's relationship began months after he filed for separation in July 2023. He met his now-fiancée in September at the post-premiere party for her HBO show, "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty."

They reportedly met in a hot tub and hit it off, as they were later seen that same month exiting Gold's Gym in Venice, California. They were photographed walking side by side and leaving in the same vehicle. They made their red carpet debut in December 2023 and went Instagram official in February 2024.

Their relationship intensified a month later, when a source told US Weekly that Manganiello might propose to O'Connor sooner rather than later. "They're going to get engaged soon [and then] start trying for kids. Marriage is definitely in their future," the source claimed.

When Manganiello filed to end his nearly 8-year marriage to Vergara in July 2023, he cited "irreconcilable differences" as his reason for divorce. The former couple also released a joint statement confirming the end of their relationship on Instagram.

Manganiello and Vergara implied that their split was a mutual decision, describing themselves as "two people that love and care for one another very much." They wasted no time on their divorce proceedings, with The Blast reporting that they had a settlement agreement.

"The parties have entered into a written agreement regarding their property and their marriage or domestic partnership rights, including support," Manganiello revealed in his legal filing. On that note, he requested that the court terminate their rights to spousal support.

Before the former couple's divorce was finalized, Vergara broke her silence on what she believed ended their marriage. She implied that Manganiello had pulled the plug on their nearly 8-year union because he was young and wanted kids.

"I didn't want to be an old mom. I feel it's not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that's not for me anymore," Vergara explained. She welcomed son, Manolo Gonzalez, from a previous relationship at 19 and wasn't interested in anything but being a grandma.

On that note, Vergara declared that she wouldn't shut the door on love. Nonetheless, "if love comes along, he has to come with [his own] children," she added, noting that if she ever got infected with baby fever, she would focus on her son's children.

Months after Vergara's claims, The Blast shared that Manganiello had refuted her narrative about their divorce. He denied that their marriage ended because he wanted children while she did not.

The TV personality emphasized that he did not appreciate her stance, noting it was unfair to be painted as someone going through a midlife crisis. He claimed that he would have never made Vergara choose between having kids and losing him.

"That's never who I was," Manganiello stressed. He also revealed that he and Vergara had initially tried to have kids during the first year and a half of their marriage. Regarding why they ended their relationship, he claimed they had grown apart.
