While many brides bask in post-wedding bliss, Gomez confessed that she spiraled into tears shortly after tying the knot.

Speaking at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women conference in Washington, D.C., the singer and actress opened up about her struggle to feel happiness without fearing tragedy.

“This is how I work personally, but something great happens in my life, I expect something bad to happen,” she revealed per the Daily Mail. “So instead of being present and saying, ‘Okay, wow, we’ve done a great thing,’ which I do, I’m always thinking, ‘Okay, but this could all go away tomorrow, so how can I make sure that doesn’t happen?’”

Gomez added that her anxiety often intensifies during the happiest times in her life. She revealed, “I would say that’s my biggest conflict sometimes when wonderful things happen. I got married, and then I was sobbing because I was like, ‘I’m gonna die the next day.’ I just think that’s a little life thing.”

Her raw honesty struck a chord with fans, many of whom have followed her decade-long battle with mental health struggles, lupus, and the pressures of fame.

Despite her emotional struggles, Selena Gomez continues to look toward the future with hope, especially when it comes to motherhood.

Just two weeks after her wedding, she shared her maternal dreams with fans in an Instagram post promoting "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place," the sequel to the Disney series that launched her career.

Posting a clip from the new season, she wrote on her Instagram Stories, “Alex Russo is a mommy,” before adding, “hopefully one day that’ll be me.”

Her fans celebrated the heartfelt post, knowing Gomez had previously opened up about her fertility challenges.

In a 2024 Vanity Fair interview, she revealed she “can’t carry” children due to health complications from lupus, an autoimmune disease that causes the body to attack its own tissues.

“I haven’t ever said this,” she told the outlet. “But I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”

Still, she’s found strength in acceptance. “It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it,” she admitted. “I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. But I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.”

While her journey hasn’t been without pain, Gomez’s relationship with Blanco has been a bright spot in her life.

The couple, who were engaged for nine months before their September wedding, are said to be “deeply in love” and committed to building a future together.

At the Fortune conference, Gomez’s vulnerability reflected a woman still learning to balance love, success, and fear.

Her words, which were heartbreaking and empowering, show a side of her fans rarely see.

They showed a woman who can dominate the charts and red carpets, yet still battles uncertainty behind closed doors.

“I’m in a much better place with that,” she said in her interview with Vanity Fair, referring to her dreams of motherhood. “It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different.”

She added poignantly, “At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”

Gomez’s wedding to Benny Blanco was a deeply emotional affair that left not a single dry eye in the room.

According to Us Weekly, the singer “sobbed and cried so hard” while delivering her vows, pouring her heart into every word.

“Everyone there was sobbing, and it was extremely emotional,” a source revealed to the outlet.

Blanco, ever the balance to her intensity, kept his vows short and lighthearted.

He even joked that his speech “would never be as long as Selena’s,” earning laughter from the tearful bride.

However, his sentiment was no less touching, with heartfelt words that brought Gomez to tears once again.

In one of the evening’s sweetest moments, Blanco gifted Gomez’s younger sister, Gracie, a “coupon book” she could use whenever she needed something from the newlyweds.

The gesture underscored the importance of family, drawing another wave of emotion from those watching.

A Barefoot Celebration Filled With Love And Laughter

The celebration reflected the couple’s easygoing personalities and creative flair.

Benny Blanco personally designed much of the décor, layering the space with Persian rugs, velvet seating, and florals in warm earth tones.

The aesthetic mirrored the cozy bohemian charm of their Beverly Hills home.

True to Blanco’s relaxed nature, the couple went barefoot for most of the evening.

“They had rugs and carpet everywhere because Benny does not like to wear shoes,” an insider shared.

Their barefoot first dance, choreographed with playful nods to "Dirty Dancing" and "Grease," embodied the couple’s joy and intimacy.

Instead of a traditional dinner, the reception featured sushi, steak, and seafood catered by Nobu, alongside an extravagant ice cream sundae bar.

Mark Ronson provided the soundtrack, keeping guests, including Paul Rudd, Steve Martin, and Paris Hilton, dancing barefoot well into the night.

As one insider summed it up perfectly, “They both just wanted to dance and have fun, and you could feel so much love from them.”
