The actress hyped up her role as Christy Martin for the movie at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood on Saturday evening. Sweeney reportedly appeared very bulky at the event, having gained about 30 pounds of muscle, which helped her clearly portray the role of the iconic boxer.
Sweeney explained to the audience that her physical transformation for the role was one of the most challenging tasks she had ever undertaken. She noted that she had just three months to alter her physique, and it did not feel like a task, thanks to her upbringing.
The actress explained that she grew up boxing and kickboxing as a teenager and later as an adult between the ages of 12 and 19. In the TV star's words:
"It was one of my favorite things to do. I was the only girl at the dojo, and I loved it. Then I booked Euphoria, and I wasn't allowed to do that anymore. So I was always kind of looking for something to be able to connect back to that physical side of myself."
As reported by The Blast, Sweeney recalled that receiving the script inspired her in so many ways, and she instantly started weight training every morning and night.

As for her personal life, she remarried Lisa Holewyne in 2017 after her ex-husband, James V. Martin, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for stabbing and shooting her in 2010, although the plan was foiled.

"Christy" was produced by Black Bear in collaboration with Mirrah Foulkes, who served as the screenplay writer, and David Michôd. As stated by Deadline, the movie celebrates the boxer's persistence, humor, and humanity in the face of shocking turns.
David Michôd also directed the project, which tells the story of Martins as a small-town girl in West Virginia who was content with her local life until she discovered her boxing talent.
She then drew on her determination and fuel to learn the techniques and rules of the game under the guidance of her trainer and manager, Jim Foster, whom she later married.
