Jennifer Lopez Talks Getting 'Very Thin' For New Film, As Expert Says The Actress 'Got Down To Around 125lbs'

Jennifer Lopez's appearance in the musical "Kiss of the Spider Woman" saw her looking noticeably slimmer, leading many to speculate about the reason behind the physical transformation.

Now she has confirmed why she looked that way, and the reason is far from what some fans assumed at the time, which was that her divorce was taking a physical toll on her.

An expert also noted that Jennifer Lopez likely weighed around 125 lbs during that period, adding that she must have lost at least 10 lbs for the movie.

Speaking to Gayle King on Sunday Mornings, Jennifer Lopez revealed the reason why she looked noticeably slimmer for her movie "Kiss of the Spider Woman."

She claimed that the "very thin" appearance was because one of her characters was a "blonde Hollywood bombshell," which hinted that she wanted to fully embody the part.

The remark helped shut down rumors that Lopez's thin appearance was the result of her being deeply affected by her 2024 split from Ben Affleck, which happened around the same time the movie was filmed.

Still, the transformation was no small feat, according to functional nutritionist Monica Parrier, who also claimed that Lopez lost around 10 lbs for the role.

"It's very impressive to see a woman in her fifties drop 10lbs like that for work," said the nutrition expert about the 56-year-old beauty, per the Daily Mail.

Partier added, "It shows how driven she is to look her very best for her job. That is certainly is not easy."

Partier also shared more about what she thought about Lopez's physical transformation for the movie and how it compared to her typical look.

"Jennifer is 5ft5in, so I would put her at a size four, and I would say she got down to around 125lbs when she made the musical last year," she said.

"Her normal weight appears to be 135lbs and a size six because she is so muscular from consistent workouts; muscle weighs more than fat," added Partier.

She went on to say that the transformation to being slimmer likely occurred in about a month, and that dieting must have played a major part.

Partier also said that Lopez may have given up sugar, dairy, and unhealthy carbs, opting instead for fiber-rich foods and protein-based meals.

"The top way to drop weight fast is to give up sugar of any kind, because your body likes to store sugar," she said. "If you stick to protein and vegetables and food rich in fiber, you will stay on the slender side."

A few days ago, "Kiss of the Spider Woman" premiered officially in New York, with Lopez and Affleck both making an appearance on the red carpet.

The two looked amicable as they posed for pictures, and Affleck even had his hand around Lopez's waist at some point.

Interestingly, he also spent some time raving about Lopez's performance in the film, which he executive-produced.

"She's amazing in the movie," Affleck said. "I just can't wait for you, the audience, to see the movie. I'm as proud of this movie as any that I've ever been involved with. I'm really excited to be here tonight."

"She just was going to give it her all, and she did," Affleck continued about his ex-wife. "'She worked enormously hard. You get to see all of her many gifts. She's somebody that grew up watching classic musicals."

The appearance marked the former couple's first red carpet appearance since their split in 2024, which was officially finalized later this year.

While they both seemed to have fully closed that chapter of their lives, Lopez recently revealed how hard it was to handle the split, especially as it coincided with their work on the new movie.

"It was a really tough time," she told Lee Cowan of CBS News' Sunday Morning.

The singer had previously hinted at how much the split affected her while sharing how it was a lesson for her to learn from.

There was a positive side to being busy for Lopez during her divorce, as working on the film helped her focus on something outside of her personal life.

"Every moment on set, every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy," Lopez shared. "And then it was like, back home, it was not great."

She continued: "And it was just like, 'How do I reconcile this?' But you get through it."
