Conan O'Brien said his last 'goodnight' on late night television on Thursday, June 24.
The veteran talk show host of late night signed off after 28 years on national television. His career spanned more than two decades with three different shows on two different networks.
To say he earned this is an understatement.
Conan gave an emotional last opening monologue where he thanked his staff, friends, family, his sidekick, TBS and many more.
He noted actor Jack Black brought up an important point about sidekicks, and Conan gave a beautiful tribute to his “sidekick” Andy Richter.
“In another era, a sidekick was someone who sat next to the host and laughed along and just sort of supported them. They were great in their way and had their special skills, and when I found Andy Richter, he’s one of the funniest people that I ever met and I put him next to me, and never said to Andy, ‘give me room, you can’t get the laugh, I’ve got to get the laugh,’ the rule was always if you think of the funniest thing just say it and that’ll get us out and he did it 100,000 times. He’s a brilliant man and I love him forever, Andy Richter,” the ‘Conan’ host said.

He continued, “I am so grateful to all of my staff and to the fans in this country and around the world who have joined me in this really crazy and seemingly pointless pursuit to do things that are kind of stupid but have something smart in there somewhere and there’s a little tiny flicker of what is kind of magic.”
Among his many thanks he also had a message for his plethora of fans.
“My advice to anyone watching right now is it is not easy to do but try and do what you love with people you love, and if you can manage that, it’s the definition of heaven on earth,” Conan said.
NOTED
Given his lengthy run in late night, there were plenty of celebrities who wished him farewell.
Seth Rogen, who noted that he started watching Conan at the age of 12, tweeted, “I smoked weed with Conan Obrien on his show and was legit terrified that I got him too high haha. (This was a surreal and shocking moment for me and was genuinely unplanned."

Hillary Clinton wished her best to Conan tweeting, “Being funny is a skill. Being funny and kind is rarer still. Congratulations to Conan O’Brien on an incredible late-night run. See you on the basketball court.”
“The Mindy Project” actress Mindy Kaling wrote, “Congrats Conan O’Brien @teamcoco! You’re the best of the best. Thanks for always being the funniest person in the room, but more importantly, being kind. Also congrats to me; I look f***ing great in this photo.”

Comedian Mike Birbiglia relished on the fact that he was Conan’s intern in 1997 and had it not been for his successful career in stand-up comedy, he would STILL be his intern today!
‘Monty Python’ star John Cleese wrote, “Congrats to this funny young man Conan O’Brien on 28 years of his late night programs. One of my absolute favourite talk shows hosts, looking forward to your next adventure my friend!
Monty Conan!
Many more celebrity tributes were made, and if we wrote them all down, we would have a novel if not more!
Congratulations Conan on your long-standing run on late night!
