Taylor Swift In Revealing Dress Told She ‘Looks Like A Birthday Candle’

Pop star Taylor Swift has again completely taken over headlines, as she has done several times this year. This time, it’s not for taking back her master's, announcing the fate of the last two albums she has yet to re-record, or her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. No, this time, the “Cruel Summer” singer is back with a brand new album, titled “The Life of a Showgirl.” In an image that was released a day before her new album, fans pulled out the thesaurus to dub her new look “splendiferous.” However, others were less than impressed.

The “Anti-Hero” singer has been embracing her sexy side for many different promotional images related to her new album, although not all of them have gone over so well with her fan base. Although one image that featured her floating in water was meant to be related to one of her songs, “The Fate of Ophelia,” others compared it to floating in “dirty bath water” and criticized the poor Photoshop job on the artwork.

This new photo featured Swift looking less like a showgirl and more like a queen, wearing a crown that featured a bunch of streamers that rose up above her head. She paired the look with dangling earrings, a diamond choker necklace, and a strapless dress that slipped off her shoulders. The pop culture account Pop Base posted the photo on X with the caption, “Taylor Swift looks splendiferous in new photo.” However, not all fans agreed.

“She looks like a birthday candy,” one user wrote. “All costumed up and looking like nothing,” another follower shared. “Who does she think she is? Cleopatra?” a third user asked, referring to the Egyptian queen.

A few users asked what “splendiferous” meant. One user thought that the pop culture account was throwing shade, asking, “Why are you dragging her?” Other users couldn’t understand why they didn’t just use the word “spendid” or “stunning” instead.

That being said, there were plenty of positive comments on the post as well. One fan compared her to “a goddess,” while another user wrote, “She truly does – elegance and confidence rolled into one. Taylor always knows how to make a statement!”

“OMG, Taylor Swift is serving ABSOLUTE SHOWGIRL REALNESS in this new photo! That splendiferous headpiece—towering with golden spikes—screams regal drama, and the ornate corset? Chef’s kiss!” another folloewr wrote. “The whole vibe feels like a nod to Vegas glamour, maybe even a subtle wink to the Showgirls legacy with a modern Taylor twist.”

Due to the line in the movie, "On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was," October 3 has been officially declared "Mean Girls Day." Considering it was also the day of the album's release, Lindsay Lohan decided to get in on the fun and share a photo of herself with a "Showgirl" edit in honor of Swift's new era. Many of her followers didn't know that she was a Swiftie, but that only made fans love her more!
