Prince William may not see eye-to-eye with his younger brother, Prince Harry; however, they agree that their childhood wasn't a bed of roses.
The heir apparent to the British throne made a rare mention of his brother during an appearance on the Apple TV+ series, "The Reluctant Traveler." The Prince of Wales revealed his plans to make necessary changes in the Royal Family to secure a better life for his children.
Prince William claimed he needed to make these changes to transform the system he and Prince Harry experienced. The rare mention of his younger sibling comes amid the ongoing rift between the brothers and speculations that reconciliation wasn't on the table.
Prince William Hopes To Spare His Children From The World He Grew Up In

During his appearance on Eugene Levy's Apple TV+ series, William was asked about his thoughts on his eldest son's future as the next king. The question got an emotional response from the heir apparent, who opened up about his childhood with Harry.
William noted he hoped to create a better world for Prince George to inherit, saying, "I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people's lives for the better."
"That is caveated with, I hope we don't go back to some of the practices in the past that Harry and I had to grow up with," William continued.
Page Six reported that he was adamant to spare his children from his past experiences, declaring, "I'll do everything I can to make sure we don't regress in that situation."
The Prince Of Wales Doesn't Fear Changing The System

While some might cower at the possibility of change, William stressed that he did not fear the outcome his plans would bring. He noted that he would embrace the process of change because he was committed to transforming things for the benefit of his children and others.
"That's the bit that excites me, is the idea of being able to bring some change. Not overly radical change, but changes that I think that need to happen," William added. It was unclear how he planned to make changes, but his desire to spare his children from the experiences Harry had was evident.
Harry has been vocal about his issues with the Royal Family, dropping bombshell claims in his 2023 memoir, "Spare," as well as in a 2022 Netflix documentary featuring his wife, Meghan Markle, and their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Sources alleged William wasn't interested in reconciling with Harry because he could not trust him to stay quiet.
The Heir Apparent Reportedly Wants To Cut Off Embarrassing Family Members

Besides his alleged disinterest in reconciling with Harry, sources claimed William was similarly not a fan of keeping Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson close. The Blast covered the story, reporting that the Duke and Duchess of York had lost the Prince's favor.
Andrew lost his working royal status following his entanglement with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. His ex-wife, Ferguson, was initially spared from the public's scrutiny until her fawning messages to Epstein surfaced.
Sources alleged William could no longer stand the former couple and wanted to use Ferguson's scandal to distance the Royal Family from the controversial pair. However, King Charles allegedly did not wish to cut off Andrew and Ferguson despite his eldest son's wishes.
King Charles' Relationship With The Prince Of Wales Remains Strong

Following claims of William's disinterest in reconciling with Harry and his desire to distance the Royal Family from the Duke and Duchess of York, speculations of tensions between him and King Charles surfaced.
The Blast shared that insiders refuted these claims, stressing that the father and son were fine. One source claimed the tensions rumors were "an attempt to manufacture division between them, when in reality, no such rift exists."
They noted the bond between William and Charles remained "as strong as ever," adding that they also had a good working relationship.
Another source noted that William and Charles might not have dinner every night or see each other on a daily basis. However, their lack of physical interactions did not stop them from contacting each other regularly.
Prince William Was In A Bad Place During The Double Cancer Ordeal

A year before the rumors about King Charles and Prince William's strained relationship, the Royal Family was hit with a double cancer diagnosis. The monarch first announced his cancer diagnosis before his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton revealed hers months later.
The Blast reported that William opened up about the impacts of the double cancer ordeal during his recent appearance on the Apple TV+ series. He confessed that his father and wife's health battle put him in "some pretty not great places" because he never expected to face such an ordeal.
William reflected on the Royal Family's healthy history, noting late icons like Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were the epitome of health, strength, and resilience. Because there had been no severe illnesses in recent years, Charles and Kate's diagnoses were more disheartening.
Could Prince William's desire to change the Royal Family stem from his issues with Prince Harry?
