Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, have had it with the reality star's ex-boyfriend, Ray J. Days after the "One Wish" singer claimed he was building a federal case against Kim and her mother, the dynamic duo, known for their years-long TV show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," clapped back at the 44-year-old with an official lawsuit, claiming he's defaming their character.
Kim Kardashian And Mother Kris Jenner Clap Back At Ray-J With A Defamation Lawsuit

According to TMZ, Kim and Kris have had enough with Ray J (who dated Kim for three years in the early 2000s) and filed a defamation lawsuit against him in court.
The family's lawyer, Alex Spiro, who has worked with several other high-profile clients, including Jay-Z and Megan Thee Stallion, claimed Ray J's incessant attacks on Kim are part of a broader issue.
Specifically, Spiro said Ray J has been "unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian over 20 years ago."
What Caused Kim Kardashian And Her Mother Kris To Sue Ray J?

Kim and Kris' lawsuit against Ray J stems from his comments in the Tubi documentary, "United States vs. Sean Combs," in which he claimed Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) charges could be brought against the famous family.
"If you told me the Kardashians [were] being charged for racketeering, I might believe it," he said. And in late September 2025, he mentioned something similar while livestreaming with reality star Chrisean Rock. "The federal RICO I’m about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy," said Ray J.
He continued, "I’m talking about, I’m on the news every day. I’m gonna say a lot of sh-t. Anybody that is cool with Kim, they need to tell her now, the Feds is coming. There’s nothing I can do about it."
Ray J even went as far as to say Kim's alleged charges would be "worse than Diddy," who's currently awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of prostitution charges.
Ray J And Kim Kardashian Have A Complicated History

Ray J has a complicated history with Kim and the rest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan, which began after a sex tape from the pair's time as a couple was released in 2007. Although the dust from that initial situation eventually settled, Ray J made bold new claims years later, alleging the existence of additional unreleased footage. He even made an audacious claim during a separate interview, claiming the couple often had wild nights together.
"Kim and I had fun times, marathon sessions. But she didn’t like getting sweaty and would stop to do her make-up if she did," Ray J previously said, per PEOPLE. "She liked to look dope during sex, the right lighting, setting the mood. She was wild, there was a red Louis Vuitton trunk of sex toys."
However, Kim fiercely denied the claims, calling the "Sexy Can I" performer a "pathological liar."
Fans Are Responding To The Lawsuit

Online, fans immediately responded to the lawsuit, with many suggesting it was only a matter of time given Ray J's history of public statements. However, the comments weren't all in support of the reality TV family, as many rushed to defend Ray J while offering a differing perspective.
"Kris about to show him what protecting an empire looks like," someone wrote, while another shared, "OOOOP. Ray J GON lose as well! THEM KARDASHIAN LAWYERS ARE NEXT LEVEL! They RARELY LOSE a case!"
A third user chimed in, writing, "Good. [Ray J] been running his mouth for years," and a fourth added, "I would never mess with Kris Jenner. That woman single-handedly made each of her daughters millionaires. Y'all better leave THE Kris Jenner alone."

On the other hand, some users stepped in to defend Ray J, suggesting the lawsuit might not be as impactful as it seems.
"Y'all always think that because of someone suing someone else makes them not guilty," they said. "They probably very much are guilty but have more power."
Another user seemingly agreed, posting, "He wanted this so he can speak his truth in discovery. He not doing this for nothing."
At the time of this publication, Ray J has not responded to the suit.
