Jon’s new album, “Fascination,” reimagines Nat King Cole’s classics in both English and Spanish, and blends jazz, pop influences, and Latin together for an amazing listening experience.

The album also debuts their first father-daughter duet, “Unforgettable.”

The duet sung by Jon and daughter Mikaela, honors the timeless elegance of Nat King Cole’s classic while adding the intimate, personal layer of a father’s pride woven into his daughter’s heartfelt voice.

Echoing the spirit of Natalie Cole’s celebrated 1991 virtual duet with her late father, Secada and his daughter create their own generational bridge, blending family bonds with musical legacy.

Jon told The Blast exclusively that it was a last-minute decision to record the duet with Mikaela.

“I had completed most of the record, actually, all of it, but we had time to add another song,” he shared. “I remember having a conversation with my publicist, Michael Caprio, and he was the one that insisted to see if we can find a way to do it [the duet with Mikaela].”

For Mikaela, a Broadway actress currently in “A Chorus Line,” time was a factor, but somehow, they made it work.

“All the pieces fit, and Mikaela was able to come down a couple days off from her show and record the song,” Jon said. “We actually got it done and I’m so happy that we were able to do it.”

'Fascination' Is Inspired By Nat King Cole

Jon's new album, "Fascination," was inspired by Nat King Cole. So when it came time to record "Unforgettable," Jon was inspired by how Natalie Cole did the recording.

"We just kind of gave it a different spin," Jon told The Blast. "It's a piano and vocal only piece with Gonzalo. It's a lot more organic, a lot more acoustic. We gave it its own character and that's what we wanted to do."

Jon was excited to bring his talented daughter into the studio for the duet. This was their first time working together like this, and they both cherished the experience.

"Mikaela has such a blooming career of her own and she done it all on her own and I really respect that so much," he said. "I really wanted to approach this in a way that's us doing something as family and at the same time, respect her as an artist and for me, that was number one, more than anything else. So that's the way we approached it."

Mikaela Secada Was Happy To Work With Her Dad On 'Unforgettable'

Before recording the duet, Mikaela met up with publicist Michael Caprio in New York when he went to see her show on Broadway and the conversation eventually led to talk of recording "Unforgettable" on her dad's new album.

"I think he's [Jon] been itching to collaborate for a really long time and for me especially, as an artist, I wanted to kind of solidify my own reputation and career before dipping my toe into being associated with being his daughter and his daughter only. Ever since I was young and decided I wanted to be an artist, I thought to myself I want to be able to do it on my own and stray away from the idea of being a nepo baby as much as I can," she told The Blast.

"So it kind of felt like the perfect time to do it. I was a year into doing my Broadway show and I was kind of feeling stagnant artistically, and when the idea came up, I was like, you now what, that sounds amazing."

So Mikaela went to Miami to work with her dad on the song.

Mikaela is currently in Connecticut in "A Chorus Line" as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show.

After her run in the show comes to an end at the beginning of November, she plans to spend the rest of the year in Miami with her family.

While Mikaela was familiar with being in a recording studio and has recorded professionally for the Broadway show she's in before doing the duet with her father, that was her first professional recording session.

And now after working together, she's ready to record her own music.
