Amid the controversy surrounding Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, King Charles is at a crossroads about how to handle the divorced couple, despite Prince William urging him to take drastic measures.

Following revelations of fawning messages Ferguson sent to the late sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, several organizations have axed ties with the Duchess of York.

Now, with the scandal casting a shadow over the monarchy, the question is, how will the King respond, as William is urging him to cast the couple out?

While Prince William has taken a tougher stance and wants the divorced couple removed from the royal household, the King does not want to banish them altogether. Unlike castaways Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, his brother and sister-in-law are loyal to the crown.

According to insiders, the King's reluctance to exile the pair is meant to acknowledge their loyalty, prevent Ferguson from behaving like the Sussexes, and uphold Queen Elizabeth's wishes.

William, however, sees this moment as the perfect chance to distance the royals from Andrew and Ferguson, whom he views as opportunists and long considered an embarrassment before Sarah's latest scandal.

The source noted William's expression while standing beside Andrew at the Duchess of Kent's funeral, saying it showed clear disapproval, and added that keeping the duo in the royal fold is a disgrace.

“William feels even more strongly than the King that Andrew and Fergie are an embarrassment and will be urging his father to act,” the informant told The Daily Mail. “The optics of that pair of chancers guffawing away [at events] look terrible.”

While the 76-year-old monarch may not expel the former couple from the fold, he may perhaps stop them from joining the royal family at public events such as Christmas.

Additionally, he may go as far as evicting them from their Windsor home, Royal Lodge, a step the Prince of Wales reportedly insists should be the bare minimum.

The informant further revealed the difference between Ferguson and Andrew’s scandal and Harry and Meghan’s is that they have never publicly criticised the monarchy or the King.

They continued, “Andrew's friends say that even in private they've never heard him say a bad word about his brother.”

The King's struggle over whether to sever connections with Sarah Ferguson comes shortly after a leading children's charity, Julia's House, removed her as patron.

As The Blast reported, the hospice, once described by Ferguson as a “sanctuary of harmony,” released a statement explaining that her messages to Jeffrey Epstein made it inappropriate for her to remain in the role.

While the organization thanked her for her past contributions, it ultimately ended its association with her, signaling the extent to which her reputation has been damaged.

Ferguson’s reputation took a big hit this week after 2011 messages surfaced online, showing her privately apologizing to Epstein just weeks after publicly denouncing him and claiming to have severed relations.

In one of the texts, she called him a “steadfast, generous and supreme friend,” before confessing that she had only distanced herself to protect her career as a children's author.

Other emails showed the 65-year-old expressing warmth toward the disgraced financier, writing, "Sometimes the heart speaks better than the words. You have my heart. With lots of love, dear Jeffrey."

In another, she begged for forgiveness for disassociating from him, writing, "I must humbly apologise to you and your heart for that.”

As King Charles weighs Andrew and Ferguson's future, he has kept his brother away from U.S. dealings.

Last week, the King welcomed President Donald Trump with a lavish state dinner, deliberately keeping Andrew out of the spotlight.

While Andrew was left off the guest list due to his status as a non-working royal, senior figures like Prince William and Kate Middleton were in attendance.

According to sources, the Duke of York is unlikely to resent his exclusion, as he remains cautious about U.S. ties amid renewed calls for him to face prosecution over his Epstein connections.
