During his appearance on the popular radio show, "The Breakfast Club," Cannon spoke with host Charlamagne Tha God about how he became a father of 12.

"It wasn't like I was acting out. It was more of being careless, being frivolous with my process because I could do it, because I had the money [and] because I had the access to whoever and however I wanted to move," said Cannon. "Then, obviously, life happens as well, so it wasn't like 'Oh, I'm gonna go have 12 kids.' It was more about like, 'Yo, I'm gonna just live life and have fun and whatever happens happens. I can handle it.'"

Cannon went on to say that if he could do things differently today, he would. "Being almost 45 now, I could sit back and like, yeah, if I would have thought the process through a little bit more and took time to actually do the inner work," he said. "Things might have been a little different in certain scenarios."

As the conversation continued, "Breakfast Club" hosts asked Cannon whether true healing could've prevented him from having a dozen children, to which he replied, "I don't know ... because I've always said this, every child that I had was made out of love and there were strong relationships."

"If I would have did the work [and] the healing after getting divorced, I probably would have took my time in a lot other scenarios, and for whatever reason, I thought that was the answer a lot of times, like 'Oh, I'm gonna figure it out over here,'" he said. "Now, you're leaving trauma every step of the way instead of fixing it from its origin."

According to an earlier report from The Blast, Cannon explained that while he wasn't "against" having more children later down the line, the "Drumline" actor had plans to slow down—at least for the time being.

"I'm having so much fun in this space right now, and the way my bank account is set up, I'm going to press hold on this 12 for right now," he shared.

And that could be for the best, considering the "Wild 'N Out" creator recently admitted to struggling to name all 12 of his children at a given time.

"I usually get in trouble," Cannon said during an episode of a podcast. "I know all of them, but like. Here we go. I'll lay them all out for you," Cannon added. "Keep me honest. There's Roc, Roe, Golden, Powerful, Rise, Onyx, Legendary, Zion, Zillion, Zen, and….see this is where. How many [are left?]"

"You're missing two," the host replied. "I'm missing two," Cannon agreed.

Cannon also sparked a bit of controversy recently, according to another report from The Blast, after admitting he hopes his children, specifically his daughters, "learn from my mistakes and not date people like their dad."

"When you have five daughters and you're like, 'All right, I at least want to be able to be true and honest,' but like I can't live the same life that I've always been living and attempt to right my wrongs in that sense of where like hopefully my daughters learn from my mistakes and not date people like their dad," he said.

While he likely had good intentions, Cannon was met with a bit of backlash, as fans wondered whether his message was truly appropriate.

"So, his message is: 'Don't grow up to be like your mother?'" a user questioned.

"Has he even learned from his mistakes? Cannon also has sons, isn't [it] important they don't make those mistakes?" a second user asked.

"Let's be gender neutral here and go, 'Don't date around and have 13 kids with different people' or something," another netizen added.

"A better place to start would be to behave like the kind of man you'd like to see your daughter's date," a fourth commenter wrote. "He'd rather just pass the buck and put the onus on everyone else to behave better than him."
