Kirk's accused shooter allegedly came clean to his online friends on Discord last Thursday. The Washington Post reported he sent the message, "Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. I'm sorry for all of this."

Robinson's confession reportedly came two hours before law enforcement took him in for Kirk's murder. The social media platform, per reports, sent a copy of the alleged confession to the police, revealing that it was sent to a "small private group of online friends."

The social media platform also told TMZ that they investigated Robinson and discovered an account belonging to him. However, they did not find or receive "any evidence that the suspect planned this incident on Discord or promoted violence on Discord."

FBI Director Kash Patel recently revealed Robinson had sent a text to someone shortly before the shooting. The Blast covered the story, reporting that he bragged about having the chance to "take out Charlie Kirk."

Robinson allegedly shared his intent to follow through on the threat "because of his hatred for what Charlie stood for." Utah Governor Spencer Cox shared more updates about the ongoing investigations, claiming the accused shooter was refusing to cooperate.

Cox noted Robinson's inner circle, including his roommate and alleged romantic partner, has been "extremely cooperative" and continues to assist authorities.

The Governor previously claimed the alleged murderer was "deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology," claiming the information came from Robinson's family.

The FBI Director revealed DNA evidence linked Robinson to the shooting. Patel explained forensic teams had tied the towel wrapped around the discarded rifle to the accused shooter. The weapon was recovered in nearby woods following Kirk's passing.

Additionally, Robinson's DNA was found on a screwdriver left on the roof of a campus building. Authorities believed the shooter had positioned himself on top of the building while Kirk was speaking at Utah Valley University, the first stop on his American Comeback Tour.

Robinson's father aided officers in his capture after recognizing him from the suspect photos the FBI shared. He reportedly confided in a local youth pastor connected to the U.S. Marshals Service, paving the way for his son's arrest.

Kirk's suspected murderer, per The Blast, shall stand in court on September 16, 2025, around noon. He would reportedly appear in court after Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray filed the charges against him on the same day.

Robinson was booked on charges of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, and obstruction of justice. These charges were all state charges and could warrant the highest form of punishment.

The accused shooter could face the death penalty, a legal punishment in the state of Utah, where Kirk was murdered. The family of the accused shooter claimed he brought up the deceased's campus visit at dinner, noting he had described Kirk as someone filled with hate.

Although the alleged shooter's father turned him in to authorities, The Blast shared that not everyone in his family believed he was guilty. Robinson's grandmother desperately defended him, claiming he was not the type to hurt others.

"He's the shyest person. He has never, ever spoken politics to me at all," the doting grandmother claimed. She noted everyone in their family was a Republican who supported Donald Trump, leaving her confused about the narrative of her grandson's Democratic views.

Robinson's grandmother was equally shocked that his father had turned him in to the authorities, revealing that he had stopped talking to her since the arrest. She added that her beloved grandson did not like guns or hunting and could not have made the shot that killed Kirk.

Will Charlie Kirk's murder trial give his grieving family the closure they need?
