Speaking with The Cut in a new interview, Vivian addressed speculations that, due to her background, she herself was also rich.

“People assume I have a lot of money. I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars at my disposal,” the 21-year-old told the outlet.

The aspiring model went on to admit that her parents were rich, particularly Elon Musk, who is reportedly worth an estimated $413 billion. However, she has no interest in pursuing or accumulating that level of fortune herself.

“My mom is rich, right? But obviously the other one [Musk] … is unimaginable degrees of wealthy," she said, adding “I don’t have a desire to be superrich.”

After saying she was content living within her means, Vivian admitted she is still better off than many people and expressed gratitude for that.

Vivian Jenna Wilson Says She Is ‘Not Very Good At Being Famous’

On social media, Vivian has built a sizable following, with many netizens supporting her transgender journey and her repeated criticism of her estranged father.

Her visibility grew even more after appearing on the cover of Teen Vogue and performing as one of 10 featured acts at Pattie Gonia’s SAVE HER show in Los Angeles, which marked her debut drag performance.

Although she may seem to handle her newfound fame with ease, the 21-year-old claimed otherwise, saying she is “not very good at being famous.”

“I fought so hard for so long to be viewed as a regular person. There was a moment literally right before I became famous where no one knew who I was. It was amazing. Everyone treated me as a regular person. I kind of miss that. But I also like being famous,” she revealed.

Despite the many positives that have come with her popularity, Vivian has also faced intense negative attention from trolls, especially those who are against her gender change and her criticism of her father

"A lot of people have tried to spin things I say into things I don't mean," Vivian revealed.

On the flip side, she has also encountered people being “really creepy” about her body, which has forced her to wear disguises whenever she goes to gay bars to avoid unwanted attention. Yet even with that precaution, she still has to deal with individuals who carry their creepiness into her DMs.

"A lot of people say the most disgusting, unhinged things they would do to me. It makes me feel gross," she added. "Don't text people on the internet all the ways you'd f-ckthem."

In June 2022, Vivian came out as transgender and announced she was dropping Musk’s last name.

In the filing, she also cut ties with her father, declaring that she does not "wish to be related to [her] biological father in any way, shape, or form."

Earlier this year, she told Teen Vogue that the tech mogul was not “supportive” of her decision.

“First of all, I had not talked to him in months — in months — so I had to get f-cking parental consent to get testosterone blockers and [hormone replacement therapy],” she said.

Musk previously claimed he was deceived into granting his permission, referring to Vivian by her birth name and saying she had been “killed by the woke virus.”

Vivian Jenna Wilson's Mother, Justine, Was 'Very Supportive' Of Her Transition

In contrast, Vivian’s mother and Musk’s ex-wife, Justine, were far more accepting of her transition.

"[My mother] was very supportive of my transition," Vivian revealed. “She is a published writer of supernatural romance fiction, which is where I get all my Vivian-isms."

"When I came out to her, she was like, 'Yeah, that figures.' She kind of [pieced it together], so when I came out, she pretended to be slightly surprised for 30 seconds and then was like, 'Yeah, honey. Okay,'" she added.
