'Succesion' Star Nicholas Braun Thrown In Jail After A DUI Arrest Incident In New Hampshire

"Succession" star Nicholas Braun was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence over Labor Day weekend in New Hampshire.

Details about his arrest remain scanty, but reports suggest he'll face a court session at a later date to be announced.

The alleged DUI incident comes months after Nicholas Braun went Instagram official with his girlfriend Hyunji Ward, calling her the "absolute joy of my life."

"Succession" star Nicholas Braun faced a DUI arrest over Labor Day weekend.

According to reports, the 37-year-old actor, known for his Emmy-nominated role as Cousin Greg on the hit HBO series, was taken into custody after a traffic stop by the New Hampshire State Police on Saturday.

He was held in the Carroll County jail in Moultonborough, about 2 hours north of Boston, Massachusetts.

TMZ reports that he didn't have to pose for a mugshot as the camera in the station was not functional.

Braun was released on his own recognizance less than an hour later, meaning he promised to attend his hearing for the misdemeanor charge and got out with no bail.

Although specific details of the charges are not known yet, he'll be required to face a court session at a later date, with more information expected in the coming hours.

According to the Daily Mail, the Moultonborough Police Department will issue a statement on Braun's arrest later today.

A DUI charge, as in the case of Justin Timberlake, often comes with penalties, even for a first-time offender.

The consequences can include a license suspension, fines, and mandatory enrollment in a state-approved impaired driving course. A conviction can also lead to jail time, though this is often suspended for first offenders.

Most celebrities, especially if it's the first time they're been pulled over for the crime, often take up a plea negotiation that usually sees the charge changed to less serious driving while ability impaired (DWAI).

Braun was a stable fixture on "Succession," which ran for four seasons and ended in 2023. His stellar performance on the show earned him three nominations for an Emmy Award for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series: in 2020, 2022, and 2023.

He has also starred in other projects, including "Zola," "Perks of Being a Wallflower," and "Sky High."

In a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, he opened up about how he and his castmates on the show were "bummed" after series creator Jesse Armstrong announced in February 2023 that it was wrapping up.

"We were expecting it while we were making the show, but you don't believe it till Jesse says it," Braun told the news outlet during the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards. "We're all pretty bummed."

He continued, "I was sad as hell [on] my last day. I finished a couple of weeks ago, and it was a really tough day, you know, saying goodbye to everybody. It's been the greatest working experience in my life. So, saying goodbye to those people is really tough."

Away from his professional life, Braun has been thriving in his relationship with girlfriend Hyunji Ward, calling her the "absolute joy of my life," per People Magazine.

The couple went Instagram official earlier this year when the actor shared a sweet note alongside a cute photo of them together to celebrate her birthday.

"HBD to my sweet, sweet DARLING of a girlfriend!!! You are the absolute joy of my life," he wrote alongside a series of photos of her and made sure to tag her in the post. "You make me my best self!! Like when you said that I could pull off this shirt full of forks. You were right. Love you dearly."

Before going public with their romance, Braun told The New York Times in  October 2021 that he was "fascinated by romance and courting another human" because "I haven't really been in a long-term relationship ever" in real life.

"I do yearn for it and yet I'm incapable of it," he said at the time. "I go toward it, and then I hit a wall where I'm like, 'I can't go farther into this. I've got to exit."

He continued, "I do believe it'll happen at the right time with the right person. Until then, it's fun to meet people and see what works."
