Nick Cannon continues to give insight into his former marriage to Mariah Carey. The comedian recently revealed that he did not mind taking the back seat during their union.

This, however, came just about a year after the “Drumline” actor confessed to struggling with his identity and masculinity during their 6-year marriage.

Although no longer together, Cannon and Carey continue to raise their 14-year-old twins, Morrocan and Monroe, jointly.

During Wednesday's episode of his “Nick Cannon @ Night” podcast, Cannon stated that he and Carey had mutual respect for their work during their marriage.

The TV presenter shared that they were both doing well at the time. "When I was married, that was what we respected and actually admired about one another is that we were both on our own boss-level trajectory," he explained.

While they both had things going on for them, Cannon shared that he was satisfied being there to support Carey.

"I used to say like the thing that was dope was when she turned hers on, I turned mine off. So I was very comfortable in supporting her," the rapper reminisced.

Cannon did not consider supporting the “All I Want For Christmas Is You” singer a chore.  "Most men don't get to marry Mariah Carey," he stated.

Addressing the beginning of their union, the comedian said, "I went in understanding, like, wow, this is one of the most amazing people to ever grace this planet, so I was able to play my position in a way.”

He continued, "But I think in my nature, I'm so confident in who I am."  “The Nick Cannon Show” host pointed out he was going in ready to be whatever she needed at each moment, whether it meant "to be the man and buck up for a second" or "to fall back."

All these seem like a far cry from what Cannon shared almost a year back. As reported by The Blast, the father of twelve disclosed that he found himself struggling to separate his identity as an individual from being just “Mariah’s man.”

These issues stemmed from Carey’s status in relation to his. Opening up about the insecurities he wrestled with, Cannon said he got married to the “biggest star in the world” in his 20s, and he felt their levels were worlds apart.

He revealed that after they welcomed their twins, the “hierarchy” of their family wasn’t very clear to him.

"I'm carrying a purse, the diaper bag, and, you know, I'm standing on the corner like, 'Wait.' She's rocking being the alpha,"he stated.

Following their divorce, Cannon and Carey continue to prioritize their children’s care and remain invested in their well-being.

Last month, the "Queen of Christmas" shared how they are balancing out co-parenting. As reported by The Blast, the 56-year-old songwriter revealed that she was doing everything to ensure their children had the easiest life possible, given that their parents are divorced.

"I want to make sure I'm always fair about the situation because it's tough to grow up with divorced parents,” she shared.

Carey then disclosed how they divide time among both parents. "They spend time with him, and they have a good time; they spend time with me, and they have a good time," the mother of two explained.

While Carey has shared how they make co-parenting work, Cannon has a different perspective on the matter. As The Blast reported, the “Roll Bounce” actor revealed on his podcast how he approaches parenting.

When asked how he balances co-parenting and dating, he frowned at the word “co-parenting”, arguing that it was “dangerous” and could cause further division among parents.

Cannon explained that placing “labels” on things or people makes everyone else place them in some sort of stereotype.

“But also, to your point, if I just step into every situation with respect, compassion, and individuality… That’s the other thing I always do with anyone I’m involved with in my life,” he said while addressing how he manages both parenting and dating.
