Jamil penned a lengthy message to fans on Instagram, calling out Williams for pushing the benefits of GLP-1 injections without addressing their potential side effects. She implied the athlete had falsely advertised the drug as a "miracle" weight loss cure, writing:

"Serena Williams is selling GLP-1s. The thing I feel most uncomfortable about here is that celebrities have access to doctors that most others don't have access to. These 'miracle' weight loss drugs come at a price."

Jamil noted the possible side effects include "paralysis of the gastric system, pancreatitis, cancer, hair loss, osteoporosis, severe malnutrition, muscle mass loss, depression," and more. She stressed that blood tests, a nutritionist, and other preparations were needed before one could use these weight loss drugs.

"If things go wrong, you don't have a billion dollars to fix it, that's why I don't like celebrities pushing drugs with such drastic documented side effects," Jamil concluded. She echoed similar sentiments in the post's caption, stressing that she was pushing for transparency and not judging Williams's choices.

Jamil's rant continued in the post's caption, noting she learned about the potential side effects of weight loss drugs from the official websites of these medications. She claimed some people had asked to highlight that Williams's husband, Alexis Ohanian, invested in the company she promoted.

The TV personality noted that anyone offended by her call for transparency and medical responsibility was a part of the problem. She added that her "size does not change the fact that we need to maintain transparency, especially when celebrities make millions from endorsing a drug."

She concluded her message with a warning about cancer, claiming those with a predisposition towards thyroid cancer were at risk of developing the condition if they used these weight loss drugs.

One critic bashed Jamil's post, labeling it a "disappointing miss" because of the alleged benefits they had gotten from using GLP-1. Another told her to mind her business, stressing that it was Williams's body and her choice. A third echoed similar sentiments, describing her comments as a "fear-mongering post."

"I completely disagree. There's a terrible stigma around these medications, and they're changing lives. Endorsements like this help break that stigma and open doors... especially for Black women," an IG user argued.

Meanwhile, Jamil's supporters slammed the hate she received, noting her words were misinterpreted. A shocked fan declared, "All you people in this comment section need to go back to high school and take remedial reading comprehension courses. Holy sh-t." Another agreed, writing:

"This comment section is wild- purposefully misinterpreting what you said and taking it as a personal attack. Have we lost all critical thinking?"
