The 31-year-old comedian revealed on "The Breakfast Club" this week that he initially felt “guilty” when his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, announced her pregnancy to the world.

“I feel bad for my girl because I bring a lot of sh-t. Anything I do or she does now is gonna be a thing,” Davidson confessed, admitting that the attention surrounding their relationship has weighed heavily on him.

Hewitt, a 29-year-old model and actress, made the news public last month with a cheeky Instagram post that included sonogram photos and the caption, “Welp, now everyone knows we had sex.”

While fans celebrated the couple’s milestone, Davidson said he couldn’t help but worry about how the spotlight might affect his partner.

“She’s a very private person and she’s the one doing all the work,” he explained. “It’s supposed to be a beautiful experience. She’s never made me feel this way or said anything, but I feel so guilty and horrible that I could not allow her to have the ideal pregnancy that almost every woman gets to have and enjoy.”

Despite his concerns, the "Saturday Night Live" alum has been vocal about how thrilled he is to step into fatherhood.

In July, he gushed to E! News that becoming a dad has always been his “dream,” and shared that several of his A-list pals have already reached out with advice, including Machine Gun Kelly.

“He’s the best dad ever,” Davidson gushed to PEOPLE, praising MGK's dedication to his two daughters. The comedian marveled at how the musician regularly flies back and forth to Cleveland just to catch his teenage daughter Casie’s volleyball games, while also staying hands-on with his infant daughter, Saga, whom he shares with ex Megan Fox.

“It’s his favorite thing. And he’s like, ‘This is going to be your favorite thing,’” Davidson revealed, noting how Kelly has reassured him about the joys of parenting. Inspired by his friend’s example, Davidson admitted he feels more grounded as he prepares to welcome his first child.

“The second I found out the news, I was like, ‘Oh wow, what I do is just a job,’” he explained. “I realized I was kind of basing my happiness on work, which is ridiculously unhealthy. It gave me this weird sense of calmness, where this is just a job, and now I have someone to do it for.”

“I’m so excited for that chapter,” he added. “That’s kind of what I’m just preparing for now, is trying to be good as a dude and develop and get better, so when that happens it’s just easier.”
