Taylor Swift and Blake Lively’s once-close friendship has reportedly hit a breaking point, and fans think Swift’s upcoming album is about to spill all the tea.
The two stars were inseparable for nearly a decade, with their friendship dating back to 2014. Swift became godmother to Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds’ daughters, even featuring their daughter James’ voice on her 2017 "Reputation" track "Gorgeous."
But the picture-perfect bond began to unravel after Blake Lively’s name, and subsequently Taylor Swift’s, became entangled in Lively’s legal battle with her "It Ends With Us" co-star and director Justin Baldoni.
Taylor Swift ‘Done’ With Blake Lively After Being Dragged Into Baldoni Legal Battle

The lawsuit, which began in December 2024, took a messy turn when Baldoni’s lawyers alleged Lively tried to “coerce” Swift into publicly supporting her and even urged her to delete text messages. Swift, who had attempted to stay out of the fight, was ultimately subpoenaed, something sources say left her feeling “exploited.”
“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see 'It Ends With Us' until weeks after its public release," Swift's rep said at the time. "She was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024, headlining the biggest tour in history."
Although Baldoni’s team later withdrew the subpoena, the damage was done.
At the time, a source told Daily Mail, “Taylor is done with Blake.”

Now, according to PEOPLE, the pop superstar and the "Gossip Girl" alum "aren't speaking."
The news comes just weeks before the release of her highly anticipated record "The Life of a Showgirl."
The project, dropping later this year, features a track titled "Ruin the Friendship," a song many Swifties believe is aimed directly at Lively.
Swifties’ Power Came With A Price Tag

Swift’s name didn’t just add drama to Lively and Baldoni’s legal feud. It reportedly added dollars, too.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, shelled out an additional $30,000 to their crisis PR firm, Street Relations Inc., over fears of backlash from Swift’s fiercely loyal fan base.
In an August 7, 2024, email, someone from Baldoni’s team expressed concern that Lively might “activate” Swift’s army of fans, which they described as a “major concern.” The message explained the decision to raise the firm’s monthly fee to $30,000 “due to the uptick in social chatter” surrounding the case.
The very next day, an invoice from Street Relations Inc. reflected the increased rate, proof that the potential wrath of the Swifties was seen as a serious PR threat in the escalating dispute.
Lively’s Team Accuses Baldoni Of Using Deposition Transcript As PR Weapon

The legal battle between Lively and Baldoni took another tense turn after Lively's lawyers took aim at the way Baldoni’s team handled her deposition transcript, accusing them of turning legal procedure into a publicity play.
As The Blast previously reported, Lively’s attorneys claim Baldoni’s camp unnecessarily filed a rough 292-page draft of her full deposition transcript under seal, despite only referencing two pages of it in their arguments.
They argue there was “no plausible legal reason” to include the entire document, framing it as an intentional attempt to “push the transcript into the public domain as fodder for [their] media campaign.”
The motion calls for the court to strike the full transcript from the record, warning that Baldoni’s team may be trying to sidestep the confidentiality protections typically granted to deposition testimony.
Blake Lively Faces Justin Baldoni For First Time In Tense Closed-Door Deposition

All of this unfolds in the wake of a tense face-to-face between Lively and Baldoni during her long-delayed deposition on July 31.
According to TMZ, the proceeding, held behind closed doors, brought both the actress and the man she has accused of misconduct into the same room for the first time since the legal battle began. With attorneys from both sides, a court reporter, and a videographer present, sources say Lively spent hours answering questions while seated directly across from Baldoni.
With depositions now underway and tensions between the two camps running high, the "It Ends With Us" legal battle shows no signs of slowing down.
