Nicki Minaj has been a dominant force in the industry ever since she broke through in 2009. She ended up being discovered by stars such as Lil Wayne, Birdman, and Gucci Mane. That resulted in a major record label deal with Cash Money Records, Young Money Records, and Universal Motown Records. 2009 turned Nicki into a star with her "Beam Me Up Scotty" mixtape. That project was in collaboration with DJ Holiday and after its release in April of that year, it was only up for the Queens, NY native.
Nicki Accidentally Ghosted A Collaboration Request From T-Pain In 2007

Nicki had been an underground artists for a few years as she built her buzz. She had been in demand for some artists though, including T-Pain. At that time, T-Pain was so big, it was almost impossible to not hear him on another major artist's chorus. Still, the Tallahassee artist wanted a collaboration with Nicki when she wasn't very known well at the time. T-Pain revealed this in an interview with the 85 South Show.
Nicki Stopped Responding To T-Pain

T-Pain explained how he and Nicki were initially supposed to collaborate together during a studio session. However, Nicki stopped responding to him regarding that collab. Nicki finally reached out, and explained how she had to work on her music.
"We was about to work together and she stopped responding and I was like, 'Nick, let me know what's going on. She was like, 'Hey, I'm an artist too and I'm working on my shit so ya know. Baby, chill.' And I was like, 'Oh... My heart.'"

After this latest clip of T-Pain discussing this situation surfaced, Nicki is now responding on Instagram. She ended up apologizing to T-Pain and explained how she doesn't even recall this happening in 2007.
"Omg what was I thinking? He was already a rlly big artist. I was still underground. Chileeee I used to b buggin yo. My bad babe, all love. I have nthn but respect for your talent and thank you & Kanye for clearing 'Go Hard' for Beam Me Up Scotty last month."

A few months ago, T-Pain went viral himself. This was regarding his Instagram feed, as he revealed how he accidentally didn't respond to so many celebrities, that were in his Instagram DMs. These were people who wanted to work with him, and the messages accidentally got filtered into a different DM folder. Among the celebrities that T-Pain missed messages from were high profile stars such as Fergie and Diplo. This is all while people were demanding that people collaborate with T-Pain more in recent years.
