Alex Cooper is getting candid about her days of humble beginnings before podcast fame.
The media personality opened up about what she did to make ends meet before discovering how powerful her words and opinions were behind a microphone.
Alex Cooper started the "Call Her Daddy" podcast in 2018, alongside her then-roommate Sofia Franklyn. The show was acquired by Barstool Sports one month after its first episode aired.
Alex Cooper's Employment Situation Introduced Her To Sugar Daddy Dating

The content creator revealed that she used to go out on dates with sugar daddies for money after meeting them on select websites. The money from these meet-ups was used to sort rent on her New York City apartment at the time.
Cooper found a way out through this arrangement after she was laid off from her job selling ads at Gotham magazine. She explained on her podcast in 2020 that the plan was to "go get drinks and dinner, and by the end of the night have enough money for rent."
Cooper added that a friend would always stick around while the date went on to ensure she was okay, amid advice that anyone considering signing up on the website should be careful.
Despite leaving her past behind and going on to sign a multi-million dollar deal with Sirius XM last year, Cooper affirmed that she does not regret a thing. Per The Daily Mail, she instead learnt so many things from moments spent having fun on dates and in hotels.
"And yes, of course, the caliber I was doing it, people might think of that as aspirational. But we all go through our sh-t," the star noted.

Cooper and Franklyn soon broke off their friendship over a deal for the podcast, about two years after they began. At the time, Vogue noted that the duo was raking in about half a million dollars in profits from the show.
However, the split turned Cooper's fortune around as she moved back to her parents' home amid the pandemic and coincidentally provided an outlet for a population desperate for connection.
She reemerged at a time when podcasts served as a lifeline for millions of people stuck at home due to the heavy restrictions of COVID.
Her already impressive fanbase, which had already reached millions before her split from her then-roommate, also began to grow as she ventured into interviewing celebrities. She also found love with a "Mr. Sexy Zoom Man," who is now her husband, Matt Kaplan.
Kaplan, a film producer from Los Angeles, reportedly worked together to transform her podcast into a media conglomerate that will see Cooper venture into deeper stories, different from her controversial sex stories.
In 2021, she sealed a $60 million three-year deal with Spotify, and three years later, in 2024, her new Unwell Network signed a $125 million three-year deal with Sirius XM. The network housed like-minded young podcasters with eyes and brains for buzzy content.
Cooper's Success At Sirius XM Reportedly Lands On Howard Stern's Wrong Nerves

The podcaster's multi-million three-year deal with the network proves her show's overwhelming success, and with the look of things, the sky is the limit.
As reported by The Blast, Cooper's performance on air and in the market has now angered her colleague, Stern, who stated that her popularity has spelled doom for his show at the network.
The tension between the media personalities had gotten so severe that producers have reportedly devised several means to keep them out of each other's way.
An insider at the network stated that Stern finds it hard to believe that after ruling the airways for over four decades, his reign could be upturned by a much younger creator within a few years.
Sirius XM was beyond excited to bring the podcaster on board, according to the Chief Content Officer at the network, Scott Greenstein. The executive praised Cooper's "fearless, unfiltered approach, where no topic is off the table."
He added that her content "has created a passionate and dedicated fanbase that is unmatched in podcasting and perfectly aligns with the content that SiriusXM subscribers have come to love."
Inside The Content Creator And Her Husband's Love Story

Cooper and Kaplan met over the phone during the pandemic in 2020, and three years later, he asked her to marry him in Los Angeles. The Blast noted that the proposal was done creatively with a fake photoshoot that her publicist and now-husband had set up, as she later discovered.
She shared that the plan was to lure her out of her casual clothes and doll her up for an elaborate and romantic scavenger hunt around their house, ending with Kaplan on bended knees.
When the podcaster returned home, she discovered that their home had been transformed into a romantic haven with candles and soft music playing all over.
Their two dogs made the night memorable, bearing witness to the ceremony as Kaplan stressed that the podcaster makes him a better man and asked her to do him the honor of becoming his wife. "I like, blacked out. I think I said yes at first. It was very surreal," Cooper stated.

Marriage was initially never part of the plan for the podcaster, as she was content with having kids with Kaplan. However, after seeing how things proceeded with the film producer, she knew she wanted to spend her life with him.
"Having that foundation of honesty and trust allowed us to get through things in life that made it so I couldn't envision anyone else by my side," Cooper explained.
She praised him for being so supportive of her career, and he would not stop beaming when she informed him over dinner at Giorgio Baldi that he could propose to her whenever he wanted.
Cooper kept details of her romance with Kaplan under wraps, refusing to step out in public together until their engagement. Kaplan had also asked not to be interviewed or featured on her "Call Her Daddy" podcast.
Alex Cooper's story is nothing short of inspiring!
