Alex Cooper is officially off the market!

The star podcaster has confirmed her engagement to film producer and businessman Matt Kaplan following a profoundly intimate yet highly romantic proposal. Cooper and Kaplan — whom the former dubbed "Mr. Sexy Zoom Man" on her podcast — first met on a Zoom call in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic.

Matt Kaplan Proposed To Alex Cooper With A Romantic Scavenger Hunt In Their Home

Cooper has spared no detail in retelling the events that led up to the moment she met her now-fiancé on bended knee. Speaking with W Magazine for its interview published on Monday, the 28-year-old shared that Kaplan popped the big question on March 3 at their Los Angeles home after she was lured out of the property for a "photo shoot."

Although she recalled feeling like the shoot was directionless and "could tell everyone was stalling," she continued with it. She later discovered that it "was a fake photoshoot that my publicist and Matt set up to keep me out of the house, out of my sweatpants, and in hair, makeup, and nails so I'd feel happy with the photos."

When she returned home that evening, the scene had been transformed into the most romantic view with "candles lit all over, music playing, and a scavenger hunt leading to Matt proposing."

The shenanigans began with an instruction to play a video showing the "Call Her Daddy" host's beau rocking "the same exact outfit" he did during their first meeting. In the clip, the Columbia University alum talked about their relationship and his feelings for his lover before prompting her to "open the card sitting there and to follow the scavenger hunt around the house."

The Boston University alum soon realized each room had a set theme, with photos and mementos to match. When she arrived in the last room, she was greeted with "a glass of champagne and a card" and a particular directive: "Meet me down by the Buddha."

"The woman who lived here before us put this huge, 500-pound Buddha in the courtyard, and we're convinced we can't take it out—that's such bad luck," Cooper recounted. Luckily, it was not bad luck she met down there as her man was already positioned with "our two dogs in little bow ties." The radio host detailed:

“He got down on one knee and said, “You’re my soulmate, the love of my life. You make me a better man. Please do me the honor of marrying me.” I like, blacked out. I think I said yes at first. It was very surreal.”

While the news of Kaplan and Cooper's engagement is enough to melt many hearts, it is worth noting that the latter never wanted to get married. The blond-haired beauty and her producer beau had "talked about having kids together" without putting marriage on the table.

For the Pennington High School alum, conforming to society's expectations "to get married to a man and live happily ever after" was not something she wanted. However, it was easy for her to have a change of heart because their relationship grew to the point that she could no longer deny that she "would love to marry him." She eventually broke the news of her decision to him, as she said:

"We went to a date night at Giorgio Baldi in November, and I told him that he could propose whenever he wanted. He was beaming, because he had accepted that maybe we wouldn't get married."

Cooper's most significant game changer was the fact that she and the Ace Entertainment CEO "had a great dynamic early." It also helped that they shared a common interest in communicating about everything, including "difficult things."

"Having that foundation of honesty and trust allowed us to get through things in life that made it so I couldn't envision anyone else by my side. On top of that, we have this insane chemistry. He's also so supportive of my career," the Spotify host finished.

Until their engagement, Cooper has kept details of her romance with Kaplan under wraps, with the lovebirds never getting publicly photographed together.
