Halsey has gone through a number of hair changes over the years, many of which were quite dramatic.

As fans of the 26-year-old singer, who is best known for hits, including "Without Me" and "Bad at Love," await the birth of her first child, who is reportedly due next month, we're looking back at some of her most headline-grabbing looks, for better or for worse.

Halsey's Sudden Haircut Had A Deep Meaning

After posting an image of her buzz cut on Instagram to her 24 million followers, Halsey spoke to Nylon magazine about her decision to cut her hair.

"Hair has also been a big indicator of racial issues in my life," Halsey, who is biracial, explained to the magazine, via MTV. "It’s one of the ultimate symbolic struggles for women of color. Shaving my head was important to me because I needed to be able to prove that I could still love myself if I did it."

Halsey Caused A Stir With Cornrows

Two years after her buzz cut, Halsey faced backlash after she debuted cornrows on her Instagram page. However, while some people accused her of cultural appropriation, Halsey was doing no such thing as she actually identifies as Black.

"I’m proud to be in a biracial family, I’m proud of who I am, and I’m proud of my hair," she shared with Playboy magazine, via BET. "Every now and then I experience these racial blips. I look like a white girl, but I don’t feel like one. I’m a black woman."

Halsey Also Caused Drama On Social Media After Debuting Curls

In 2018, Halsey was again accused of cultural appropriation when she shared a photo of her natural curls on Twitter. 

"Afro? Cultural appropriation!!" one commenter wrote, according toAllure

Then, after another slammed Halsey with a hashtag saying the same thing, another person came to her defense.

"She’s biracial, and that is probably her natural texture," the follower said. 

"I love it, and PLEASE don't listen to the haters," another person shared.

Halsey Was Outraged By The Bizarre Backlash

In a tweet shared in response to the criticism over her natural look, Halsey said she was disappointed to see such negativity, especially after spending so long growing her hair out. 

"I can’t believe I spent a whole damn year growing out my curls under those wigs for y’all to say my natural hair looks like a wig... some f-cked up shit lmao," she tweeted.
