Lorde is one of the music industry's top rising stars. The 24-year-old New Zealand native burst into the US pop charts back in 2013 with the release of her debut album "Pure Heroine." The singer was only 16-years-old at the time of its release, but quickly became a breakthrough star. The album earned her critical praise thanks to hits such as "Royals." It also earned her numerous awards and "Pure Heroine" would go on to be certified triple Platinum.
It'd take a while for Lorde to release her second studio album. "Melodrama" was released in the summer of 2017, and like her first album, this one was a critical and commercial success. Critics gave "Melodrama" four and five star ratings, and the album would go on to be certified Gold.

"Royals" is the first single from Lorde's debut album. Lorde wrote the song herself, and many interpret the lyrics to be about the luxury lifestyle of the upper class. Upon its release, the song became a critical and commercial hit.
Although, the song became a number one hit on Billboard and earned Lorde two Grammys, she doesn't share others enthusiasm for "Royals." In a past interview, Lorde once referred to her hit song as disastrous. "I listen to people covering the song and putting their own spin on it - and I listen to it in every single form except the original one I put out - and I realize that actually it sounds horrible," the singer explained.

I have lost my boy, and I need some time to see the good again, to finish making this for you," the singer wrote.
After a break, Lorde was ready to head back to the studio. Collaborating with Lorde on her upcoming album is musician and songwriter Jack Antonoff, who previously worked with her on "Melodrama." Although, no details about the album's name or tracks have been revealed, but the record is expected to be released in 2021.
