DMX lives on through his 8-year-old daughter, Sonovah Hillman Jr.
Hillman Jr. honored her late father by filling in for him at a previously scheduled show on Saturday. Sonovah took the stage at Wildcatter Saloon in Katy, Texas, and performed the three-time Grammy Award nominee's song, "Slippin," in a pink tutu and a t-shirt that featured an image of herself with the late rapper.
"Thank you so much @wildcatter_saloon I won’t ever forget you giving me the opportunity," Sonovah wrote on social media. "My first concert 😁 forever grateful 🙏 big thank you and shout out to Justin, John, Carmen, and Scott. When I make it big I’m coming back. I promise. #FOREVERDMX"

The real lyrics to "Slippin'" are too adult for the talented 8-year-old, so she wrote her own lyrics for the cover performance. She replaced "Ay yo I'm slippin' I'm fallin' I can't get up" with "Ay yo I'm growing, I'm learning to hold my head up"
Sonovah continued with her own lyrics,
"I've learned so much from my father
he taught me life is my story, I'm the author"
DMX's daughter admitted her favorite song is "Party Up (Up In Here)" but she believes that the world's favorite song is the "Ruff Ryders' Anthem." Of course, she bust out her cute version like a pro! Sonovah previously stole the show at DMX's emotional memorial service.

DMX died on April 9 at White Plains Hospital in New York. He passed one week after he was hospitalized for a heart attack and put on life support. He was 50.
The rapper discussed the importance of raising children correctly in one of the last interviews he gave before his untimely death. "Teach your children the principles they should have and teach them their values," he said on TV One's "Uncensored." "I like being someone that like, 'Whatever you want to do. Come talk to me.' Whatever… I don't give a f---. It is what it is. At the end of the day, parents are not good parents just because they have a child. They're just parents. Two people f---ed. They had a baby. They don't get a parent degree as soon as the baby comes out."
RIP DMX!
