Legendary rapper DMX is dead at age 50 just days after being hospitalized following a massive heart attack.
The ‘Ruff Ryders’ Anthem’ rapper passed away today after his family made the tough decision to pull him off of life support. As we reported, DMX has been in a coma for several days after being rushed to a New York hospital following an overdose and subsequent heart attack.
DMX is survived by his fifteen children, his fiancee, and his mother.

The rapper collapsed at his home several days ago and had to be resuscitated several times after first responders rushed to the scene.
According to reports, the rapper suffered a drug overdose, and during the episode had a massive heart attack. After being revived, doctors reportedly told X’s family that the rapper’s brain was without oxygen for up to 30 minutes.
At the hospital, DMX was placed on life support to keep him alive. But, several days later, doctors tested the rapper’s critical brain function and confirmed there was minimal function. At that point, his family was forced to make the tough decision to pull the plug.
DMX was one of the most successful rap artists of all time and splashed on the international scene with his wildly popular ‘Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood’ album.
The legendary rapper suffered throughout his career with substance abuse and was sought treatment on several occasions over the years. Several years ago, DMX canceled a set of concert dates, after announcing he was seeking treatment after falling off the wagon.
It’s unclear what the rapper was ingesting in the hours prior to his death, but several reports state he overdosed on drugs.

In the past few days, DMX’s children and extended family arrived at the White Plains, New York hospital to visit him. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family was forced to visit him one at a time. As we reported, the kids were given time to say their “final goodbyes.”
Thousands of DMX’s fans showed up outside of the hospital to celebrate the rapper’s life and hold a vigil to pray for him and his family. X’s fiancee and young son arrived at the vigil for the special moment with his fans.
Celebrity reactions and messages are pouring in, paying respect to the legendary musician’s life.
“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days. Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end,” a statement from his family states.
It continues, “He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle, and the man the world knew as DMX. We will share information about his memorial service once details are finalized.”
