After weeks of dating rumors sparked by sneaky social media posts, the couple stepped onto the red carpet together at the songwriter’s inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City.

Their public debut was marked by apparent affection, sweet words, and undeniable chemistry, confirming what fans had been speculating and solidifying that their bond is more than just a fling.

On July 16, Megan Thee Stallion and Thompson’s romance went full public after the duo made their debut as a couple on the red carpet.

Pictures captured the lovebirds at the posh Gotham Hall, walking hand-in-hand, while dazzling in elegant outfits. The 30-year-old opted for a black halter neck dress with a keyhole cutout and a wide beaded belt detail at the hips.

Megan donned minimal accessories, wearing only a simple silver earring. However, she finished off with a full face beat and beautifully laid hair.

On the other hand, Thompson matched her sophistication, donning a classic black-and-white tux.

The pair looked so in love as they held each other closely and flashed smiles while posing for the cameras.

Megan Thee Stallion spoke to PEOPLE at the gala about her relationship with the 35-year-old.

She shared details about how they met, though keeping the revelation shallow.

“Oh, we met and it was such a meet cute it was like a f-cking movie. I won’t tell you how and I won’t tell you well, but it was a movie,” the star said.

Megan then gushed about her man, calling him the “nicest person I’ve ever met in my life.” The rapper also revealed that before now, she had never dated someone “so kind.”

“This is my first relationship where I’ve ever been with somebody who’s genuinely a nice person, and he makes me genuinely happy,” she told Page Six.

Megan said she was grateful to have Thompson in her life, adding that the basketball player felt the same way about her.

Besides her relationship, Megan also talked about the fulfillment of seeing one of her goals come to fruition.

“I feel like they can see what I’m doing right now. I feel like they’re looking down on me from heaven, and I feel like they're like, ‘Yes, daughter!” the “Hot Girl Summer” crooner told PEOPLE of honoring her family legacy with the inaugural benefit gala.

According to its website, the gala, named after Megan’s late parents Joseph Pete III and Holly Thomas, was held to “provide resources to effect meaningful and positive change in the lives of women and children, senior citizens, and underserved communities” in Houston and worldwide.

“I feel like my momma's so happy. I feel like she is clapping. I feel like my great-grandma is so happy. I feel like my daddy is like, ‘this is exactly what I knew my child was gonna do.’ I feel like they're super proud,” Megan added.

The Pete & Thompson Foundation Gala came a week after Megan featured Thompson in one of her sexy pictures on her Instagram page.

The photo featured the ravishing beauty in a swimsuit, sitting on the ledge of a pool. However, fans quickly noticed Thompson in the background, sitting in a chair and soaking up the sun.

A few days later, Thompson made their relationship Instagram official.

He shared a carousel of photos, some of which showed the couple holding hands and giving each other kisses while on vacation. “Sweet Bells On,” Thompson captioned the post.

Since going public with her relationship, Megan Thee Stallion has received both love and backlash from fans online.

Recently, social media users slammed the rapper after she shared a risqué TikTok video of herself and the Golden State Warriors player.

In the clip, Megan showed off the boxes of Labubu characters her man had gotten for her, while Thompson was seen rubbing his hands up and down her legs.

Out of excitement, Megan then said, “My c**chie is screaming.”

Her comment sparked an uproar from fans, with many bashing her for sharing her personal life too quickly.
