Obtaining the first award of the night was the savage herself:  Yes, Megan Thee Stallionappeared early on in the evening to accept her award for "Best Collaboration" for her same-titled song with Beyoncé.

She began her acceptance speech by saying that, ahead of hearing who would be accompanying her on the new remix track, Megan set out "to see good news trending" and  "good news number one."

Next up to the metaphorical bat was country up-and-comer Gabby Barrett.  The 21-year-old took home a top prize in her genre for "Best New Country Artist" ... a similar crown to the three she took home earlier this week at Sunday's Billboard Music Awards.

Whereas the BBMAs were shown on NBC, the iHeart Awards were hosted on competitor network FOX.  Trade publication "The Wrap" headlined that Billboard Awards actually "[sunk] to a new low" amongst their viewership, adding in the article that the show "did very little for their host network."

A decidedly interesting point at the iHeart Awards was midway through, when the master of multi-genre music Taylor Swift made a special appearance via video.

Swift, 31, showed up from an allegedly London-based studio to thank her followers for voting towards her coveted Best Pop Album prize.

As "Elle" already acknowledged:  "Tonight’s honors come after Swift won the Billboard Music Awards’ Top Female Artist and Top Billboard 200 Artist awards on Sunday. She was also given the BRIT Awards' Global Icon Award on May 11.

Though the studio backdrop is speculated by some as simply being a green screen, it's also thought by another camp that Swift might actually be re-recording one of her biggest albums - 2014's "1989."
