Did Ross and Rachel Almost Date In Real Life?

We finally got to see the reunion special that Friends fans wanted or maybe didn't, but got instead of more episodes of the show. There were certainly a lot of revelations made by the cast about their time on the show. Before we go any further a spoiler alert is in effect here!
One of the questions that were bound to come up during the reunion special was whether or not any cast members were romantically involved. Jen Aniston wasted no time throwing David Schwimmer under the bus!
Although they were never "romantically involved" both David Schwimmer and Jen Aniston confessed that they had a major crush on each other. However, the two never officially dated because they were never both free at the same time!
That didn't stop the connection from boiling over and showing up on some of the Ross and Rachel scenes! David Schwimmer recalls,
"I mean, the first season, I had a major crush on Jen. At some point, we were crushing hard on each other,"

As we mentioned before, Schwimmer recalled that both were essentially always in a relationship with someone else. Mentioning,
"One of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that."
However, Matt LeBlanc literally called bull**** on the claims to their face! The cast then recalled that Aniston and Schwimmer would cuddle up and fall asleep on the couch between takes! From what Matt LeBlanc mentioned we get the feeling that there's something that they didn't tell us!

As Schwimmer and Aniston were telling the story different cast members chipped in. It was Courteney Cox's intervention though that revealed what may have really happened with their love affair. As Schwimmer mentioned "It was a situation we couldn't do anything about,"
Cox, quickly jumped in to mention that the fact things didn't work out between them was for the best. Essentially saying that if they had become romantically involved and it didn't work out it would not have been good for the show. It kind of leaves us thinking that there were more unwritten rules on set!

On the show, Ross gets divorced 3 times one of them from Aniston's character Rachel. While Rachel leaves a man at the altar and then struggles to find a stable partner. Both actors have faced similar situations in real life. With Jen Aniston almost matching Ross in the divorce department. After she split from Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux.
While Schwimmer like Ross went on to marry an English woman in Zoe Buckman. Also, like Ross the marriage ended in divorce. Although they co-parent a 10 year old daughter!
