Kelly Clarkson left fans stunned and heartbroken after canceling the opening two nights of her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency, "Studio Sessions," just minutes before showtime.

The 43-year-old Grammy winner took to Instagram roughly 90 minutes ahead of Friday night’s performance to deliver the news, saying she was “devastated” to postpone after weeks of grueling rehearsals.

Kelly Clarkson explained that the intense preparation had taken a toll on her voice, and she needed to rest in order to avoid “doing serious damage.”

“We have been working 24/7 to make 'Studio Sessions' the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans,” Clarkson wrote in her emotional statement.

“I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me, and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars.”

The "Since U Been Gone" singer admitted that both the prep and rehearsals had worn down her vocals, and emphasized that her priority was to deliver a performance worthy of her fans.

“I need to protect myself from doing serious damage, so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve,” she added.

Clarkson’s Vegas Comeback Hits A Snag

Ironically, just hours before the cancellation, Clarkson had posted behind-the-scenes photos from rehearsals, excitedly captioning them, “TONIGHT!! I’m so excited to be back in Vegas! We’re bringing the studio to the stage this time with 'Studio Sessions!' See you soon!”

The new residency at Caesars Palace marks Clarkson’s return to the Vegas stage following her previous stint at Planet Hollywood Resort from 2023–2024. But this sudden change has fueled further speculation about the singer’s future, especially as reports swirl about her possible exit from "The Kelly Clarkson Show."

Clarkson’s talk show, which has won multiple Emmys, is currently under contract with NBC through 2026. However, according to sources, she may be reconsidering her role.

The singer notably disappeared from her show for 10 days back in March, citing a "private matter."

“This has all been very painful for her,” a source told Page Six in late May. “She knew she had to step down for a minute.”

The insider added, “She has her priorities, and her family comes first, but I think she’s been humbled by the whole situation… what has happened has given her a moment of clarity.”

Kelly Clarkson’s recent setbacks, including the sudden postponement of her Las Vegas residency and growing uncertainty surrounding her daytime talk show, come during a period of intense transition for the multi-talented performer, who has been steadily rebuilding her life after a tumultuous divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.

Clarkson and Blackstock, who share two children, daughter River Rose and son Remington "Remy" Alexander, officially called it quits in 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage. But their split was far from simple, complicated by financial battles, custody arrangements, and their intertwined professional lives.

Blackstock, once Clarkson’s manager, played a significant role in shaping her career. He was behind many of her biggest business moves, including her multimillion-dollar NBC deal and the launch of "The Kelly Clarkson Show."

Their relationship, once fruitful both professionally and personally, eventually collapsed under the pressure.

“The irony is that he’s had a very positive influence on her life; he made these phenomenal deals for her, and she wouldn’t be here without him,” one industry insider told Page Six. “But it’s hard to be a manager and a husband. At the time, she greatly appreciated what he had done for her career.”

Now, as Clarkson juggles her Emmy-winning talk show, a new Las Vegas residency, and her recently launched label High Road Records, questions have emerged about whether she’s spreading herself too thin, and if she may be stepping back from certain commitments to prioritize her well-being.

“She knows her limits,” the insider continued. “Even on 'The Voice,' when she was working so hard, she knew when she needed a refresh. That’s what you’re seeing now. She is a very feeling, sensitive person, as you see on the talk show, and that’s both in her personal and professional life.”

With "Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions" originally slated to kick off July 4 and now temporarily postponed, fans are hoping the singer is taking the time she needs to recharge and return stronger than ever.
