Last night, Donnie Wahlberg was finally revealed to be behind the Cluedle-Doo costume on “The Masked Singer.” 

Married to judge Jenny McCarthy, the Boston native is a 51-year-old singer, actor, rapper, record producer, and film producer. 

With over 1.5 million followers on Instagram, he is best known as a founding member of the boy band “New Kids on the Block.” 

Because Cluedle-Doo only appeared to the judges later in the season, fans had only four clues to go on: his connection to former Gremlin contestant Mickey Rourke, a kitchen clue, a jigsaw puzzle clue, and a connection to judge Ken Jeong. 

Walberg starred in the movie “Bullet” with Rourke and “Zookeeper” with Jeong.

The “kitchen” clue was a nod to the Wahlburgers restaurant chain, and the “jigsaw puzzle” clue was a reference to his role in the “Saw” franchise. 

After all four performances had finished, Cluedle-Doo interrupted host Nick Cannon to perform “Return of the Mack” by Mark Morrison, to give the judges one final clue before his unmasking. 

“It was insanely good,” said judge Ken Jeong. “I still hate you, but good job.” 

Jeong guessed “Zookeeper” co-star Kevin James, which was backed by celebrity guest panelist Darius Rucker. 

Judges Robin Thicke and Nicole Scherzinger decided to double down on Jamie Foxx, who has yet to appear on the series. 

Jenny, however, failed to recognize her husband’s voice, and guessed Akon. 

However, as fans proposed, the Cluedle-Doo was actually Jenny’s husband, Donnie Wahlberg, who had also starred in “Zookeeper” with Ken. 

After his unmasking, Walberg revealed the reason why he wanted to take part in the show. 

“Well, there’s two reasons why I’m here, honestly,” he said. “One, obviously, to see my wife. And two, you know, it’s been so long since I’ve performed for my fans. And New Kids On the Block fans, affectionately known as Blockheads, they’re family. They’re my heart.” 

The surprise was so shocking that it made Jenny fall out of her chair. Back in March, she had explained why her husband, who is known for his singing talent, hadn’t yet appeared on the show. 

“I keep wanting it to happen myself. Obviously, we keep bringing his name up,” she said at the time. “Donnie is still on Blue Bloods and until he’s done with Blue Bloods, I would say there’s not really a chance for him to be on.”

“There will be a season, so don’t give up hope. I’m keeping my fingers crossed! So you just gotta wait until Blue Bloods is wrapped or maybe, who knows, when this COVID thing is over, maybe they can make some room.”
