Nicki Minaj Reflects On 2003 Weapon Charge

Last week, Nicki Minajwas arguably the biggest trending topic on social media. It began when she broke her social media hiatus of over two months and dropped several new photos on her Instagram feed. There, she sported a pink-themed look along with a pair of matching Crocs that had the internet going wild. Her caption was "FRIDAY," which alluded to new music arriving that day. The music was revealed to be the rerelease of her 2009 mixtape "Beam Me Up Scotty", along with some additional new tracks.

Nicki has been much more active on social media over the past week for sure. Now, the Young Money rapper has taken to Instagram to post her mugshot from 2003 and reflect on her arrest in a share that was quickly deleted. She was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use. 

"I did use it tho. This is so inspiring now looking back. The girl was leaking blood and spent days in the hospital. The word on the street was that I was gonna b deported. I was so scared. Lol. I was 'on the run'. I rlly thought I was in a ghetto movie. I hid my car and went to stay wit my Aunt in Brooklyn chile. Bwahahaaaaa. #Growth."

Regarding Nicki's "Beam Me Up Scotty" mixtape, this was her debut mixtape in 2009 and put her on the path to making her the star she is today. It was finally mad available on streaming outlets and included new tracks such as "Seeing Green" featuring Lil Wayne and Drake along with the highly anticipated new single, "Fractions." Nicki even included her appearance on Drake's 2009 breakout hit single, "Best I Ever Had," which had her dedicated fans ecstatic.

On Nicki's "Beam Me Up Scotty" mixtape, she also revealed she was working on a new album. However, a title or official release date wasn't announced. It's definitely been a while since fans have received an album from Nicki, with her last release coming in 2018. That was with her "Queen" project, which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and is platinum in the US. With Nicki taking a break from music since then, this forthcoming project may very well satisfy her demanding fans.

Nicki made another huge impact with her social media return last week and in regards to the pink Crocs that she was sporting on Instagram. According to a report by The Sole Supplier, Crocs saw a 4,900% increase in sales for those pink Crocs. When an established international star such as Nicki co-signs any product, they are most likely on their way to huge sales, as evident here.
