Rebecca Dayan is trading in the catwalk for film sets. The French born star began her career as a model at the age of 17. After moving to Paris, she began modeling while also attending school for fashion design along with theatre. Although Dayan found success in modeling, she decided a change was in store.
After moving to New York, she turned her attention to acting. Starting in 2009, Dayan began landing roles in films such as "Limitless" and "Tesla." Now, the 37-year-old is about to become a big name thanks to her role on the Netflix series "Halston."

"Halston" is the newest Netflix series generating a lot of buzz. Ewan McGregor stars in the title role of fashion designer Halston. The series follows Halston's rise to fame from the 1960s to the 1970s.
Joining McGregor is Dayan, who plays award-winning jewelry designer Elsa Peretti. Peretti is famous for her jewelry and design pieces for the prestigious Tiffany & Co. Peretti developed a friendship with Halston and collaborated with him on several projects, including designing the bottle for his signature Halston perfume.

Set in the 1960s and moving into the 70s, "Halston" follows the life of the famed Iowa born designer. Halston rises to fame after former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy wears his pillbox hat. The designer's success continues with his line of relaxed women's fashion and the creation of a signature perfume.
As Halston's popularity rises, his life begins to spiral out of control. A frequent guest at Studio 54, Halston begins partying too hard and developing a drug habit. Before long, Halston's professional life suffers with him alienating his closest friends and his fashion line deteriorating.

Being cast in the role of Elsa Peretti was a huge, yet challenging moment for Dayan. To play the Italian designer, Dayan worked with a close friend to work on her Italian accent. With the help of friend and designer Prisca Vera, Dayan learned the ropes of speaking Italian.
According to Dayan, she had to resort to sneaky tactics for the lesson. Unbeknownst to her friends, Dayan would record the conversations with her Italian friends. "For the accent, I worked with a friend of Dan's who's Italian. I also have a friend here in New York, the designer Prisca Vera [Franchetti], who's from Rome. I'd secretly record our conversations because she gets shy if I ask her "Can you say this in an Italian accent?"
Mixed Reaction For 'Halston'

"Halston" is the brainchild from creator Sharr White and "American Horror Story" producer Ryan Murphy. The series has been in development since 2019 and began production in 2020. "Halston" made its premier this past Friday on Netflix and consists of five episodes.
Although, the show offers lots of drama along with glitz and glamour of the 70s', it's garnered mixed reviews. Critics have praised McGregor's performance as the fashion designer. But one of the major issues is with the writing and pacing of the story.

Although playing Elsa Peretti was intimidating, Dayan says she loved playing the jewelry designer. Thanks to her role on "Halston" Dayan was able to learn more about Peretti's life. Dayan found Peretti's life so fascinating that she joked Elsa should have her own show.
As for playing opposite Ewan McGregor, Dayan says the two bonded while filming the Netflix series. Dayan says that she, McGregor, and their castmates would either go out to eat or she'd cook for them. She even teased that McGregor may now have a career as a designer since the actor bought a sewing machine and made himself a pair of trousers.
