Rihanna's Father's Death Certificate Reveals Multiple Illnesses

Rihanna's dad's cause of death has been revealed!

The singer's late dad's death certificate shows that he passed away from several illnesses related to his heart and respiratory system.

Rihanna's dad, Ronald Fenty, passed away on May 30, 2025, at the age of 70. The pair has had a fairly tense relationship in the past, but they have reconciled.

Ronald's death certificate confirms he passed away due to cancer, pneumonia, and other respiratory-related infections. The certificate claimed he suffered from severe respiratory pneumonia, pancreatic cancer, and aspiration pneumonia caused by a bacterial lung infection.

The late Ronald also experienced acute renal failure and severe tubular necrosis, which led to complicated kidney damage. The pop star's dad was pronounced dead at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Ronald's last comment about Rihanna was in 2023, when he reportedly expressed his happiness about the singer expecting another child with her partner, A$AP Rocky, to TMZ.

The artist has been vocal about her struggles with forming a relationship with her dad, which has experienced a strain since her childhood. 

According to Daily Mail, Rihanna recalled her dad's lifestyle with substance abuse, causing several arguments between him and her mother, Monica Braithwaite.

The business mogul noted that her mother would pick a bone with Ronald if she found foil paper in the ashtray, which usually contained crack. The fight also reportedly got physical on several instances, including one she witnessed at just seven years old.

Monica also had to assume the role of the family's breadwinner due to Ronald's drug problems, meaning a young Rihanna had to step up to look after her younger ones when her mom worked overtime.

When the Barbadian launched her music career at the tender age of 15 and later found fame, her family's issues became public knowledge. The singer once booted him from a concert during one of her tours.

Ronald reportedly got disrespectful to the crew members at the show, and Rihanna got him kicked out after his actions embarrassed her. Their feud got deeper when her father spoke up in support of her and Chris Brown reconciling after he physically assaulted her.

Ronald even went ahead to praise the "Loyal" singer for being so respectful towards him and declared he had forgiven him for the domestic attack.

Rihanna also sued Ronald in 2019 for falsely posing as her manager and accepting show bookings on her behalf without her knowledge. She once kicked him out of her charity event for showing up heavily drunk despite paying heavily for him to get treatment at a rehabilitation center.

Despite Rihanna's struggles during her upbringing, her mother's resilience and excellent parenting style had a lasting impact on her life, one that she has found herself replicating.

As shared by PEOPLE, the mogul sent the warmest birthday tribute to Monica in 2022 when she uploaded an old photo of them together. Rihanna acknowledged that becoming a mom to her son, RZA, at the time opened her eyes to how much work her mother did raising her siblings.

She declared that she "unlocked new levels of love and respect" for her mom in a way she could never put into words. Her pregnancy also brought her close to spotting the similarities between her and Monica.

"I literally make all of the same faces. I say the same things. I clear my throat the same way. I move my mouth the same way. I either never noticed it or it never happened until I had a baby," the singer noted.

Monica and Ronald share three children, including Rihanna and her two brothers, Rorrey and Rajad. Rihanna also has three half-siblings from Ronald's previous relationship. The singer shares a special bond with her youngest brother, Rajad, whom she considers her son.

The "Disturbia" singer is currently expecting her third child with her rapper boyfriend. Like her parents, the couple has seemingly adopted the R-styled names for their two kids, RZA and Riot.

During his appearance on "Late Night With Seth Meyers,"The Blast noted that the "Fashion Killa" rapper hinted that their unborn baby will have an "R" initial in its name.

Rihanna and Rocky have also adopted a cohesive parenting style with their children, including spending quality time with them consistently. They are also beyond excited to be expanding their family of four.

A source close to the couple claimed that Rihanna had dreamed of having a large family, and most importantly, a close-knit one, which is why she is having them so close in age.

The celebrity couple officially began dating in 2020 after being friends for years and having even appeared in each other's musical projects.
