Country star Cody Johnson was forced to pause his concert in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday night after a physical altercation broke out in the crowd, ironically, right after his performance of "God Bless America."
The 38-year-old singer had just wrapped his rendition of the patriotic anthem, which he regularly dedicates to U.S. service members and first responders, when the chaos erupted.
A video shared on TikTok shows multiple Cody Johnson fans grappling with each other before crashing to the ground, disrupting the otherwise heartfelt moment.

Clearly dismayed, Johnson addressed the scuffle head-on and didn’t hold back, taking a pointed jab at rapper Travis Scott in the process.
“I mean, this is not a Travis Scott concert,” Johnson said, referencing the tragic 2021 Astroworld Festival in Houston, where 10 fans were killed during a deadly crowd crush. But his remark also appeared to be a nod to Scott’s ongoing history with crowd chaos, including a recent wave of violence at his Circus Maximus tour shows across New Zealand and Australia.
At Scott’s Auckland show at Eden Park just days ago, a wild brawl erupted between fans as the rapper took the stage.

Video footage from Scott's show showed concertgoers throwing punches and kicking each other, with one man seen repeatedly punching another in the presence of children. Elsewhere, groups of teens were caught on camera violently attacking one another while surrounded by cheering fans.
Similar scenes unfolded in Melbourne and Sydney, where security guards struggled to contain rowdy crowds. One concertgoer was choked and slammed to the ground, lying motionless as shocked attendees rushed to help. Despite the disturbing incidents, police in New Zealand reported no arrests.
By contrast, Johnson, known for fostering a safe and family-friendly environment at his shows, urged concertgoers to show respect for others.
“There’s kids in the crowd, there’s all kinds of things in here that don’t need to happen,” he told the San Antonio audience.
Cody Johnson Quips About Unity After Fight Breaks Out Mid-Show

Moments earlier, Johnson had called for unity, criticizing the media and political division that he believes drives people apart. “Well, so much for my speech on not being divided,” he quipped afterward, drawing laughter and applause from the audience.
The scuffle was handled by authorities present at the venue, allowing Johnson to continue the concert without further incident. At one point, the singer even acknowledged the police presence in the crowd, earning additional cheers from fans.
Born and raised in Huntsville, Texas, Johnson is known for his strong ties to faith, family, and country.
He began playing music at age 12, inspired by his father who performed at their local church. His sound blends contemporary and neo-traditionalist country, drawing influence from legends like George Strait and Willie Nelson.
A self-made star, Johnson independently released six albums before signing with Warner Music Nashville.
His 2016 record "Gotta Be Me" debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart, and his major label debut "Ain’t Nothin’ to It" followed in 2019.
Cody Johnson’s Journey To Country Stardom

Johnson reached a new pinnacle in his career last year when his album "Leather" took home the coveted CMA Album of the Year award.
The win, which surprised even Johnson, was a defining moment for the Texas native, who humbly accepted the trophy from presenters Don Johnson and Katharine McPhee before handing the microphone to his production team.
“I did not expect that,” Johnson admitted, reflecting the heartfelt sincerity that’s made him a fan favorite.

Known for going above and beyond with his music, Johnson delivered both quantity and quality on the project.
The original album featured 12 tracks, while the deluxe edition doubled the offering, much to fans’ delight. The expanded version also included his long-awaited duet with Carrie Underwood, "I'm Gonna Love You."
The recognition was a long time coming for Johnson, who’s previously racked up several CMA nominations. In 2022, he won Single of the Year and Music Video of the Year for “’Til You Can’t,” further cementing his status as one of country music’s most respected and consistent performers.
