Cher Prioritizes Son’s Health After Near-Fatal Overdose

Sources close to the situation told TMZ that he is incredibly lucky to be alive after the near-death incident. While the specific substance involved remains unknown, insiders say Elijah is currently receiving the best possible care.
As expected, Cher is deeply concerned for her son’s well-being. One source shared, “Just like any mother, Cher's only concern right now is for her son's health, and she's doing everything she can to get him the help he needs.”
Opening Up About Drug Use Starting At Age 11

In a 2014 interview with Entertainment Tonight, he revealed that his drug use began at the startlingly young age of 11.
“I started with drugs around the same time that we all did, around eleven,” he said. “I mean, it’s just what you did, it’s just what everybody did.”
What began with marijuana and ecstasy eventually escalated to heroin and opioids, substances he admitted became a form of escape.
"I [was] just looking to escape all the things in my past and, that's when you turn to those kind of drugs, you know heroin and opiates," he admitted. "[Heroin] kind of saved me … If I didn't have that at that point, I don't know what I would have done …You may jump off a bridge. If you can only just go through that time period and live through it and then get help."
Elijah also spoke candidly about the terrifying closeness of his brushes with death.
“I did have some close calls and some moments of really feeling at the edge of mortality,” he said. “Even though you think [you’re being] safe, the wrong combination of things can happen and you can just slip into the abyss.”
Elijah Blue Allman’s Overdose Comes Months After Cher’s Conservatorship Battle

This latest incident comes less than a year after Elijah and Cher were embroiled in a public legal battle.
In 2023, Cher filed for a conservatorship over her son, citing that he was “substantially unable to manage his own financial resources due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues.”
Though the legal move sparked headlines, the mother-son duo ultimately settled the conservatorship dispute a few months later.

Elijah’s hospitalization follows not only years of substance abuse struggles but also escalating personal turmoil, including a very public unraveling of his marriage.
Just weeks before his reported overdose, The Blast reported that Elijah was spotted appearing visibly distressed on the streets of Los Angeles, raising concern among fans and those close to the family. Days later, his estranged wife, Marieangela King Allman, officially pulled the plug on their over-a-decade-long marriage.
The couple, who wed in 2013, have had a rocky history.
Elijah first filed for divorce in 2021 but later dismissed the case in 2024, suggesting an attempt at reconciliation. That hope appears to have ended for good. Marieangela personally delivered divorce papers to Elijah at their California home on May 17, just three days before news of his overdose broke.

According to In Touch, court documents state Marieangela initially filed for divorce on April 8, citing March 31, 2025, as the official date of separation and listing irreconcilable differences as the reason.
Her demands include exclusive use of their marital home, a 2017 Toyota Prius V, and retroactive support payments dating back to the day of filing. She also requested that Elijah cover her $10,000 legal fees, along with any additional attorney or expert costs moving forward, unless a settlement is reached beforehand.
The timing of the overdose, combined with the breakdown of his marriage and recent sightings of distress, paints a deeply troubling picture of Elijah’s current state. It’s a moment that has those close to him, especially his mother, Cher, gravely concerned for what comes next.
At this time, Elijah remains hospitalized.
