Khloé Kardashian's Good American Makes Mental Demands Of Ex-Employee Amid Court Battle

The legal drama between Khloé Kardashian and a former employee skyrockets with the entertainer's demands for proof of emotional turmoil!

The tensions between "The Kardashians" star and her ex-staffer, Brooke, began after the latter alleged she was unjustly firedbecause of her medical condition. The latter began working for Khloé's co-founded company, Good American, in 2019 and was let go in 2023.

The plaintiff filed a lawsuit seeking damages against the clothing company, Khloé Kardashian, and her co-founder, Emma Grede. She alleged she suffered mental and emotional anguish from her bosses' insensitive reactions to her cancer battle, but the defendants are demanding evidence of these claims.

According to new court documents, Khloé and Grede's legal rep recently filed papers imploring the court to sign off on their request for Brooke to undergo a medical evaluation. The lawyer argued that the plaintiff's lawsuit included claims of therapy for her alleged mental and emotional injuries.

Based on her claims, Khloé's attorney stressed that Brooke needed to prove she was negatively impacted while working for Good American.

The legal representative noted that they initially implored the former employee to agree to an independent medical examination by a doctor they had selected; however, she refused. The legal documents obtained by In Touch read:

"Good cause exists to compel the mental examination of [Brooke]. The requested examination will allow Defendants to adequately defend themselves against [Brooke's] claims of emotional and mental distress as alleged in [Brooke's] Complaint and will also allow Defendants to test the veracity of [Brooke's] mental and emotional distress claims."

The Defendants Denied All Allegations Of Wrongdoings

The former employee's complaint blamed Khloé and her business partner for her alleged mental and emotional injuries. However, both women have denied all allegations of wrongdoing through their attorneys. The legal rep argued the defendants were innocent and blamed Brooke for her alleged problems.

The lawyer claimed that any mental or emotional injury Brooke suffered must have stemmed from "pre-existing psychological disorders or alternative concurrent causes." The legal rep stressed that Khloé and her pal could not be held accountable for their ex-employee's well-being, noting:

"[Brooke] is barred from claiming any injuries or damages because such injuries and damages are the sole, direct, and proximate result of [Brooke's] conduct…[Brooke] had pre-existing mental distress due to cancer and other alternative causes that existed before she was terminated."

Inside The Good American Legal Drama

The legal drama between Khloé's co-founded company and Brooke began after the latter filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages for wrongful termination, cancer discrimination, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. 

The Blast covered the story, reporting that Brooke recounted her time with the clothing company from 2019 until her 2023 termination. She alleged she was a fantastic employee who consistently received favorable reviews for her work and was even considered for promotions and raises.

However, things went south when she presented a letter from her doctor covering her need for rest amid her cancer treatment. Brooke noted she requested to work remotely, but her employers, Khloé and Grede, allegedly wanted her to take a medical leave of absence instead.

The Plaintiff Believes She Was Wrongfully Terminated

Brooke claimed her doctor's note explained that she was immunocompromised and should work remotely. Unfortunately, according to her allegations, Khloé and Grede were unable to sympathize with her request and eventually placed a job listing for Brooke's position while she was still under their employment.

The alleged victim stated that after she discovered the job listing, she was wrongfully terminated from Good American in October 2023. Brooke claimed that the company disguised her termination as a company-wide "layoff," but she believed her medical condition was the real reason she was let go.

Brooke backed up her allegations with claims that Khloé and Grede still hiring and filling other positions at the time of her termination. She appeared willing to battle it out in court as a hearing weeks earlier revealedthe parties had attempted and failed to reach a settlement.

Before butting heads with her former employee, Khloé increased her business portfolio by launching a popcorn venture. The brand name Khloud made its debut in April, gaining traction due to its association with two popular investors.

Khloé's new business was backed by tennis superstar Serena Williams' Serena Ventures and talent agency WME. The protein popcorn brand was reportedly made from Nebraska-farmed corn and contained 7 grams of protein per serving.

Besides this business venture, Khloé has earned millions as a reality TV star from her days on E!'s "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" series before her family joined forces with Hulu.

In addition to her co-founded clothing line, the entertainer earns millions through sponsored posts on social media, according to Investopedia.
