Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are living their best and boldest lives now that their kids have flown the coop, and they’re not shy about the NSFW perks of an empty nest.

The couple, both 54, opened up on Monday’s episode of "Live with Kelly and Mark" about how things have changed at home since their youngest child, Joaquin, moved out earlier this year after graduating from the University of Michigan.

Spoiler alert: Kelly Ripa has a lot less laundry.

Speaking to guest Amanda Peet, who was getting emotional over her own child leaving for college, Kelly offered some unexpected comfort.

“The first one is like a bit of a shock. Each one, the second one it’s like no big deal, third one for 24 to 48 hours, you’re gonna be like, ‘Oh my gosh, what have we done? Now it’s just us,'" she said. "And then your entire life becomes nudity in the household wherever you want.”

Mark didn’t hesitate to confirm the shift. “It’s a freak show,” he said.

“Total freak show,” Kelly added with a laugh.

The longtime couple shares three children. Michael, 27, and Lola, 23, who are both NYU graduates, and Joaquin, 22, who recently completed his college journey at Michigan. While they’ve fully embraced their new freedom, Kelly and Mark admit the transition wasn’t exactly seamless.

Back in 2021, shortly after dropping Joaquin off at school, Kelly described the experience as “really hard.”

Mark, too, felt the weight of the change, later telling PEOPLE in a joint 2023 interview that it felt like “a loss.”

“The first dinner I cooked, I’m not kidding, was for 12 people, and it was just the two of us,” Kelly recalled. “We sat there with this inordinate amount of food, neither one of us hungry at all.”

Kelly also admitted she initially worried they wouldn’t have enough to talk about as a couple, but that fear quickly faded.

“The first 48 hours, we were leaning into the despair, and then we really leaned into the positive side," she said. "We got over it!”

Of course, longtime fans of the couple know that Kelly and Mark have never shied away from candidly discussing their love life, including the, let’s say, creative places they’ve gotten frisky over the years.

“I’ve got to tell you something. I did something backstage that was so inappropriate that, if we weren’t married, I would probably be fired right now,” Ripa joked during a July 2024 episode. “But, I have to explain myself. I started at the shirt, and I was like, ‘I really love this shirt, I think it’s gorgeous on you.'”

Consuelos revealed that after Ripa complimented him, he playfully encouraged her to feel his pants.

“I felt his pants, and they feel nice. But, I was like, ‘My gosh, your thighs feel like they are made out of metal or stone.’ Marble! Carved out of marble,” she said. “I’m backstage rubbing up and down his thighs, like, it doesn’t even seem possible. I realize people are looking at us like, ‘Are you OK? Do you forget that you’re in a place of business?’ And, yes is the answer!”

NSFW Bedroom Boundaries

During a January 2023 episode of "Live with Kelly and Ryan," Consuelos revealed that their daughter Lola had temporarily moved back in for her final semester of college. And with her return came a little too much casual closeness.

"She's so excited to be living with us again because it's her last semester in college," Consuelos said. "She’s not going back to her apartment, she’s staying with us. And you know what she does now? The door’s closed in our bedroom, no knock, she just walks in and says, 'Hey girls!'"

That led to an important sit-down moment between parents and daughter.

"I said, 'Lola, I don't want you to take this the wrong way, I'm very excited that you are home. We missed you. You are the heart of this family... but you gotta knock,’” Mark recalled.

Kelly didn’t hold back on the warning either, “Because at this point, anything you walk in on is your problem.”

Mark upped the ante with a cheeky warning of his own, “Well, be warned Lola Consuelos. ‘Cause this week’s freaky week, isn’t it? Yeah, this is January 30. We’re going to get freaky this week!”

Now, with the house all to themselves, it seems like nothing (including clothes) is off-limits.
