Months after making headlines for his split from pop star Sabrina Carpenter, "Saltburn" actor Barry Keoghan is opening up about a deeply personal chapter of his life... his battle with addiction.

In a raw and revealing interview, Barry Keoghan shared details from his struggling past, saying that he's no longer running from the truth.

The actor’s history with substance abuse is rooted in tragedy.

Keoghan lost his mother to heroin use at just 12 years old and revealed that his father also died from similar struggles. “I’ve lost two uncles and a cousin to drugs,” he told Authentic Hollywood. “That should be enough to go, ‘OK, if I dabble here, I’m f-cked.’ But your curiosity is a powerful thing.”

“I’m not in denial anymore. I understand that I do have an addiction, and I am an addict,” he confessed. “When you accept that, you finally can move on and learn to work with it.”

Barry Says Hollywood Pressures Fueled His Addiction

Keoghan says the pressures of Hollywood only exacerbated his addiction.

“You go to LA, you go to Hollywood, wherever the big scene is… there’s an enormous amount of pressure, and a different lifestyle that is good and bad for you,” he said. “You’re around the scene. You just happen to be the one that ends up doing it.”

The "Dunkirk" star even showed his physical scars, reportedly rolling up his sleeves during the interview. “I’ve got scars here to literally prove it,” he said. “They’re a result of using.”

Today, Keoghan says he’s in a better place. “I’m at peace now,” he shared, adding that he’s taking accountability and focusing on healing.

Keoghan's revelation comes months after his rumored split from "Espresso" singer Sabrina Carpenter.

The duo first sparked romance rumors in 2023, with their rumored on-and-off relationship drawing increasing attention throughout the following year. However, by December 2024, PEOPLE reported that Carpenter and Keoghan had “decided to take a break” and parted ways as they are so "career-focused."

While neither Carpenter nor Keoghan commented on the rumored split, speculation surrounding infidelity quickly made its rounds on social media. Keoghan was said to have cheated with influencer Breckie Hill, though she later addressed rumors that she was the “homewrecker."

“To put it simply for you all, no, I did not get with Barry," she said in a video. "I have never even encountered this man in my life. The only time I’ve seen him is on my TV screen from watching 'Saltburn.'"
