Pop star Britney Spears has apparently not buried the hatchet with Lizzo.
The "Truth Hurts" singer claimed that the Princess of Pop does a Janet Jackson "impression," angering fans and causing some bad blood in the process.
Britney Spears Is Seemingly Still Feuding With Lizzo

During an April 1 appearance on the Sibling Rivalry podcast, the "Juice" singer addressed a 2021 Twitter post where she called Jackson as the "Queen of Pop.” Most fans refer to Madonna as the Queen of Pop, not Jackson.
Looking back on that tweet, Lizzo claims that “people came for me on the Internet,” but doubled down on her stance, saying: "Here is why I said Janet Jackson is the Queen of Pop: Britney Spears is doing a Janet impression, and she said it."
"Janet is her diva,” she continued. “There were no such things as pop divas before Janet.”
Lizzo Says There Were No Pop Divas Before Janet

"Janet was first. She was famous when Madonna was a kid, watching her on television. And I'm just putting it out there. It's not because someone is better than the other. She was just first, and she is Janet. She invented this sh-t," Lizzo said while still acknowledging that "Madonna is the pop icon."
She explained that she "felt like I was just fighting for my life because people were dragging me by my ankles" over her past comments. However, this time it was fans of Britney Spears, not Madonna, who decided to call out Lizzo for her comments.
Britney Spears Fans Come For Lizzo After Her Comments
Nobody thinks of THE Britney Spears as a Janet Jackson impersonator. She literally crafted her own sound and imagery at 16 and became the blueprint for every new pop girl.

Many users took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to make their outage known.
"Nobody thinks of THE Britney Spears as a Janet Jackson impersonator. She literally crafted her own sound and imagery at 16 and became the blueprint for every new pop girl," one fan wrote. "Worry about your career lasting one summer and your latest tweet not even crossing 100 likes @lizzo."
Another fan said that Britney was a “student” of Janet Jackson, but admitted that there was a distinct difference between their two styles. "She has graduated and succeeded in her OWN lane to become a blueprint herself,” they wrote, adding, “Lizzo done lost her d-mn mind."
"Woke up to LIZZO dragging THE Britney Spears? I think the f-ck not,” a third fan wrote on X.
Britney Spears Just Wants To Be Left Alone

In an article published on May 9, an insider reportedly told Life & Stylethat Britney just wants “to be left alone” following Lizzo’s controversial comments.
“Britney is a huge fan of Janet, she’s always said she was a huge influence over her style and even her sound, but for Lizzo to say she was ‘doing an impression’ of Janet feels like a dig, because it implies that she didn’t have any originality,” the insider claimed.
The source said that Britney paid tribute to Jackson during several performances and always thought that she was “the deepest and brightest woman at the same time,” and someone she will “look up to for the rest of her life.”
It’s unclear how Britney stumbled upon Lizzo’s comments, but the “Toxic” singer doesn’t understand what she did that caused Lizzo’s “dig.”
Britney Doesn't Understand Why Lizzo Would Come For Her

“Britney is very sensitive, that hurt her feelings,” the source explains. “It feels intentional and she doesn’t understand why Lizzo would want to come for her.”
“She’s never said a thing against [Lizzo], so it’s really out of left field,” the insider added. “It’s also hard to respond to because she doesn’t want to upset Janet, who she has so much love and respect for.”
The source went on to say, “It’s really frustrating for Britney because all she wants is to be left alone,” adding, “She’s trying to mind her own business and deal with her life, not be dragged into someone else’s interview for PR.”
Given that Lizzo is still battling a civil lawsuit from her former backup dancers alleging harassment, the insider said that the singer should be “worried about her own legal issues right now” and not “taking shots at Britney.”
