Motown legend Smokey Robinson is facing a $50 million lawsuit filed by four former housekeepers who accused him of sexual assault and creating a hostile work environment over nearly two decades.
Following the lawsuit, Robinson’s attorney, Christopher Frost, has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them vile and false.
Frost also asserted that the lawsuit is an attempt to extort money from the 85-year-old music legend.
Smokey Robinson’s Lawyer Slams The Lawsuit

After news of the sexual assault lawsuit against Robinson made headlines, his lawyer, Christopher Frost, slammed the allegations.
In a statement shared with PEOPLE Magazine, Frost described the claims as “an ugly method of trying to extract money from an 85-year-old American icon.”
He also said Robinson would respond in his own words and file a legal response in court. Frost asked the public to desist from judging until evidence came to light.
“We ask anyone following this case to reserve judgment as the evidence comes to light and all the actual facts of the case unfold. We will be asking the court to dismiss the lawsuit," he said.
Frost added, “We will also be asking the court to address that in their statements to the press about Mr. Robinson, the plaintiff’s attorneys have reached beyond the bounds of liberties that even lawyers are typically allowed in this context.”
Smokey Robinson Breaks Silence Following The Claims

Frost’s statement comes shortly after Smokey Robinson broke his silence on the lawsuit. In a brief phone call with the Daily Mail, the iconic singer said in anger, “I am appalled,” before ending the call by saying, “I can’t speak about this right now.”
Meanwhile, the plaintiffs’ attorney, John Harris, believes his clients’ request for $50 million is justified.
“Obviously, no amount of money can compensate these women for what Mr. Robinson put them through. But the $50 million is warranted based on the gravity of Mr Robinson’s despicable and reprehensible misconduct,” he said in a news conference per PEOPLE.
Four Women File Sexual Assault Lawsuits Against Smokey Robinson

Smokey Robinson is making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. On Wednesday, four former housekeepers filed a lawsuit against the legendary musician, detailing numerous instances of alleged abuse dating back to 2007.
In the documents filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court, the plaintiffs, identified as Jane Doe 1 through 4, claimed that Robinson coerced them into non-consensual sexual acts.
The four women claimed that Robinson used physical force and threats to prevent their escape during the assault, along with graphic descriptions of the assault.
They alleged that they kept Robinson’s abuse away from the authorities for fear of retaliation, public embarrassment, shame, humiliation, as well as the star’s celebrity status.
Details Of Smokey Robinson’s Alleged Assault

In the court documents, Jane Doe 1 claimed that the record producer assaulted her at least seven times between January 2023 and February 2024.
Robinson would allegedly call the housekeeper into his blue bedroom and escort the dog, Shiio, out of the room, before raping her on his bed.
Jane Doe 2 went into deeper details about her alleged encounters with Smokey Robinson. According to her, the abuse began in 2016 in his mansions.
“He would summon her to either the laundry room or garage, where there were no cameras,” the lawsuit claimed per Daily Mail. Furthermore, the plaintiff said Robinson raped her without a condom at least 23 times.
The songwriter allegedly enjoyed ejaculating all over the victim’s face, and if she refused, he would threaten her by saying his wife would be mean to her.
Similarly, Jane Doe 3 claimed Robinson abused her at least 20 times over 12 years, while Jane Doe 4 revealed she was first raped in 2007. According to her, the abuse continued for over 15 years before she quit in 2024.
Smokey Robinson’s Wife May Not Be Innocent

Smokey Robinson’s wife of over two decades, Frances Gladney, wasn’t left out of the allegations. She was accused of enabling her husband’s actions.
One of the accusers claimed Gladney knew about Robinson’s former acts of sexual misconduct. She allegedly drove to a nail salon every week so Robinson could be home alone with the complainant.
The alleged victim also claimed that the fashion designer had previously settled cases with other women who had similar experiences. Yet, she refused to take the appropriate steps to prevent her husband’s “deviant misconduct” from happening.
Another complainant also accused Gladney of making the work environment very hostile. According to her, Frances regularly screamed in a hostile manner, “using ethnically pejorative words and language.”
So far, Gladney has yet to privately or publicly address the numerous allegations against her.
