The Mandalorian & Grogu
Written by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, "The Mandalorian & Grogu" continues the adventures of Din Djarin, the titular Mandalorian from "The Mandalorian" Disney+ series. Directed by Favreau, the film will also mark the first appearances of Hollywood heavyweights Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White in a galaxy far, far away.
It is set to be released on May 22, 2026, making it the first "Star Wars" film to be released in theaters since 2019's "The Rise of Skywalker."
Starfighter
Directed by Shawn Levy and written by Jonathan Tropper, this film, starring Ryan Gosling, is set to be released on May 28, 2027.
The film will focus on the adventures of a new starfighter pilot set five years after "The Rise of Skywalker," making it the first movie to explore the timeline after the fall of the First Order.
Untitled New Jedi Order Film
Although director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has been attached to the project for a while, the Jedi movie starring Daisy Ridley's Rey has faced a standstill due to a string of rotating writers.
The film will be set a few years after "Starfighter" and focus on Rey's attempts to establish a new Jedi Order.
Untitled Dawn of the Jedi Film
Written and directed by James Mangold, this film is set to be the earliest in the timeline as it focuses on the origin story of the Force.
No details about the plot or casting have been revealed at this time.
Untitled New Republic Film
It is widely rumored that Dave Filoni will create a movie to connect several different Disney+ series, including "The Mandalorian" and "Ahsoka."
The movie is expected to take place between the original and sequel trilogies. Aside from the return of several fan-favorite characters, no other details have been revealed at this time.

Andor – Season 2
Six episodes have been released, and there are only six more to go in the "Rogue One" prequel story that focuses on Diego Luna's character of rebel Cassian Andor.
Since the events of the show lead right into "Rogue One," there will not be a third season.
Visions – Volume 3
"Visions" is an anthology of animated shorts created by various animation studios around the world.
The stories are not considered canon but explore themes central to the universe.
The third volume is set to be released on October 29, 2025.
Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi
One "Vision" episode titled "The Ninth Jedi" has proven to be so popular that it is going to get its own full-length anime series.
The series is expected to hit Disney+ sometime in 2026.
Maul – Shadow Lord
Also expected in 2026 is an animated series focused on the character of Darth Maul.
The series will follow Maul's attempts to rebuild his criminal empire after the Clone Wars and will introduce his new apprentice.
Ahsoka – Season 2
No release date has been announced for the second season of "Ahsoka," played by Rosario Dawson.
The second season will continue Ahsoka Tano's journey and will also feature the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.
Tales of the Jedi – Tales of the Underworld
Released on May 4, 2025, also known as Star Wars Day, this anthology series has two story arcs.
These stories will focus on fan-favorite characters Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane during the reign of the Empire.

Why Do People Like Star Wars?

Over the years, George Lucas has managed to build an incredible fanbase thanks to his immersive worldbuilding, which introduced fans to a galaxy far, far away and taught the world that not even the sky is the limit.
Although even Mark Hamill felt that Harrison Ford’s Han Solo would be the star of the franchise, Lucas flipped the script when he made the teenage farmboy into a hero, defining the concept that literally anyone can be a hero.
In addition to the special effects brought by Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light & Magic and the memorable characters that the late Carrie Fisher and so many others have brought to life, it’s clear that the franchise will still be around to invoke nostalgia and build new memories for years to come.
