Weezer Star And Wife Seen Publicly Together For First Time Since Shooting And Arrest

Weezer bassist Scott Shriner and his wife Jillian Lauren are putting on a brave face after a terrifying police-involved shooting outside their Los Angeles home that landed Jillian in the hospital and booked for attempted murder.

Just days after the chaos unfolded in their Eagle Rock neighborhood, Scott Shriner and Jillian Lauren were spotted together on Wednesday, marking their first public appearance since the incident.

In photos obtained by Daily Mail, Jillian looked visibly frail as she leaned on Scott, holding his wrist tightly for support as he helped her into a waiting car.

Shriner appeared somber as he stayed close to his wife, who wore a pained expression while recovering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder, fired by police.

The drama began earlier this month, when a male suspect involved in a three-car crash on the 134 Freeway fled into the couple’s neighborhood, stripping to his underwear, hopping into a pool, and watering plants in a bizarre attempt to blend in.

“On April 8, 2025, around 3:25 p.m., the California Highway Patrol requested a backup locating three misdemeanor hit-and-run suspects, who fled into a residential neighborhood,” a press release posted on April 9 read, per Us Weekly. “As the officers were in the rear yard of that residence, they observed a female, later identified as 51-year-old Jillian Shriner, in the yard of a neighboring residence armed with a handgun.”

Police say Jillian exited her home with a gun and pointed it at officers, prompting them to open fire. She was struck in the shoulder and later booked on suspicion of attempted murder, though authorities confirmed her injuries were non-life-threatening.

Jillian allegedly told police she thought she was defending her home from the suspect. Cops later recovered a 9mm handgun from the residence.

Despite the intensity of the situation, Shriner kept things light when asked about her condition. “She’s alright, thank you for asking,” he told reporters. Then, in true rocker fashion, he added, “See you at Coachella.”

In a statement to PEOPLE Magazine, LAPD spokesperson Jennifer Forkish laid out the results of their preliminary investigation. “Our investigation revealed evidence such as a shell casing and video footage showing she repeatedly ignored police commands to disarm and that she fired her weapon at LAPD officers."

“She was subsequently booked for attempted murder of a peace officer,” Forkish added.

PEOPLE also obtained dramatic police audio from the incident. One officer is heard alerting dispatch, “She has a gun in her hand,” while another states, “Female suspect's going to be wanted for ADW [assault with a deadly weapon] on the PO [police officer].”

A follow-up call requests urgent backup for a “female suspect, gunshot victim,” describing her as wearing “a long gray sleeved shirt, black pants, armed with gun.”

The shooting wasn’t the only health battle Jillian has faced recently. Just weeks before the incident, she revealed she is currently battling cancer in a heartfelt Instagram post.

Sharing a photo of herself in a hospital bed giving a thumbs-up, Jillian did not disclose what type of cancer she has, but confirmed she is undergoing treatment.

Following the shooting, Jillian was absentee booked while being treated at a nearby hospital. She was later released on a $1 million bond but has not yet made a court appearance or retained a public attorney.

LAPD has confirmed that Jillian was not involved in the original crash that brought the suspects to the neighborhood. Two of the suspects are still at large.

The couple, who married in 2005 and share two adopted children, looked determined to face the storm together. Jillian, an accomplished author of memoirs and true crime books, appeared deeply affected, both physically and emotionally, during the outing.

Despite the mayhem, Shriner has remained focused on work, even using the moment to plug Weezer’s Coachella appearance.

The band, which has delivered major hits like “Buddy Holly,” “Island in the Sun,” and “Say It Ain’t So,” continues to perform nearly three decades after first forming in Los Angeles.
