The NBA legend reportedly plans to enter more states with his free health mission after commissioning a fourth clinic in North Carolina.

The athlete recently opened his fourth free health clinic for uninsured families in North Carolina, earning admiration from friends and peers for his kindness. 

He reportedly aims to expand his initiative nationwide, hoping to inspire other celebrities to follow suit and create a legacy that transcends basketball. 

An insider emphasized that the legend's motivation stems from a genuine concern for underprivileged communities' access to healthcare, not from a desire for publicity or tax benefits. 

At 62, with a net worth estimated at $3.5 billion, Jordan now finds joy and fulfillment in using his wealth to make a positive impact.

Beyond financial contributions, Jordan is actively involved in establishing these clinics. He ensures they are staffed with top-notch doctors in locations that need them most and works to streamline the process for families seeking medical care.

Jordan opened his most recent Family Medical Clinic in Wilmington, North Carolina, in collaboration with Novant Health on February 19, 2025. 

The clinic is notable for its size, 7,300 square feet, and 12 patient rooms. According to the North Carolina Medical Society, the free clinic operates on weekdays, reflecting Jordan's commitment to providing accessible healthcare services to the community. 

Jordan expressed his deep personal connection to the cause of healthcare accessibility through his decision to open a second free clinic in Wilmington, the area where he grew up. 

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, his family relocated to Wilmington in 1968, and he later attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a basketball scholarship in 1981.

Reflecting on the impact of his first clinic, which opened less than a year prior, he noted its substantial influence on the health and wellness of local families. 

The inauguration of the first clinic was a moving experience for him, highlighting the necessity of quality health care in the community. Before expanding to Wilmington, he had opened two clinics in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2019 and 2020.

Two years ago, The Blast reported that Jordan sold his majority shares in the Charlotte Hornets, although he will continue to hold a minority stake and serve as alternate governor. 

The Hornets confirmed the new ownership on their Instagram, announcing that the majority stake sale to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall has been finalized following approval from the NBA Board of Governors. 

Jordan expressed his honor as the majority owner for 13 years in a statement. He recalled key accomplishments during his tenure, such as exciting on-court moments and the return of the Hornets name. 

He reflected on the incredible support from fans and expressed confidence in the new majority owners, stating that he is thrilled to pass the reins to Plotkin and Schnall.

Jordan highlighted his pride when bringing the Hornets' name back to Charlotte, which united the histories of the original Hornets and the Bobcats. He recognized the fans' vital role in this journey and their enthusiastic support. 

Furthermore, he reiterated his commitment to the community, noting that one of his early priorities was to focus on addressing diverse needs within the region. 

He mentioned various initiatives, including hurricane and COVID-19 relief efforts and the organization's ongoing support for education, hunger, military, and wellness.
