Social Media Reacts To Resurfaced Clip Of Mo'Nique's Warning To Shannon Sharpe About Dating Young Women

Social media users are reacting to an old clip of comedian Mo'Nique warning Shannon Sharpe about the dangers of messing with younger women when she appeared on his popular podcast, "Club Shay Shay."

The chatter about Mo'Nique's words comes days after Shannon Sharpe was slapped with a $50 million lawsuit, filed by Tony Buzbee and Gabriella Zuniga, which alleges the NFL player sexually assaulted Zuniga, whom he met in 2023 in Los Angeles.

Days after Sharpe was blasted with a multi-million-dollar lawsuit, which he and his legal team have denied so far, social media users dug up a clip from an old episode of his "Club Shay Shay" podcast in which Mo'Nique threw a little shade at Sharpe for his dating practices.

In the clip, Sharpe asked Mo'Nique to share her opinion about dating in today's day in age, noting "it's different now."

Mo'Nique replied, "It's different, baby. I'm grateful I'm not 56 and trying."

After Sharpe asked the comedian if she was speaking to him indirectly, she stood firmly in her position, adding, “I’m looking right at you! I ain’t backing down."

She continued, "You'd better take your old a-s and get somebody to love you."

"You don't need no 26-year-old girl; you don't need no 36-year-old girl," she added. "You’re trying to hang out with these young b-tches. You can’t do it, Shannon!”

The Blast previously reported on the lawsuit that was filed in a Nevada court on April 21, claiming Sharpe assaulted and battered a woman.

The legal documents claim that Sharpe met the 20-year-old girl, who has now been revealed as Gabriella Zuniga, at a Los Angeles Gym when he was in his mid-50s.

Although their relationship started casually, it progressed, becoming flirty and, as the lawsuit states, eventually controlling.

According to Buzbee, who made statements on behalf of his client, Sharpe "demanded complete control" over Zuniga's "time and body." He went on to say that Sharpe, who used to play in the NFL for the Denver Broncos, expected her "to be at his house on his schedule, at his command, whenever he called."

However, the horror doesn't end there.

Buzbee and Zuniga alleged Sharpe also raped her on different occasions. The documents note that the first assault happened in 2024 after Zuniga attempted to end her alleged relationship with Sharpe following his sex scandal on Instagram Live. The second allegedly occurred in January 2025 when Sharpe was supposed to be delivering holiday gifts to Zuniga.

On X, formerly Twitter, social media users replied to the resurfaced clip of Mo'Nique giving Sharpe advice about dating younger women.

"Mo'Nique warned Shannon, but Shannon did not want to listen," someone wrote, while another said, "He thought it was cute and funny, but [Mo'Nique] wasn't speaking nothing but facts!"

"Black women always be knowing," someone else posted. "You get caught up when you don't listen. Mo'Nique was trying to tell him in a joking way, but still, he stayed doing stupid old man things."

A fourth user also chimed in and expressed sadness that Sharpe would be remembered for his controversies rather than his time on the field.

"It's a shame Shannon Sharpe won't be remembered for being one of the greatest tight ends ever," they wrote. "Just a freaky, old n-gga who loves LeBron James."

Several other users blasted Sharpe for allegedly entertaining a young adult in the first place.

"56 f-ckin a 21-year-old OnlyFans br-ds sounds like a sad life to live," they wrote.

Another user clearly agreed, writing, "I just wanna know what the conversation be about when you 54 and she's 19."

Following the lawsuit hitting the internet, Sharpe's legal representative, Lanny J. Davis, posted a statement on his client's behalf.

In the lengthy Instagram post, Davis claimed Zuniga and Buzbee were creating falsehoods to obtain "millions of dollars" from Sharpe.

"It is filled with lies, distortions, and misrepresentations," he wrote.

He went on to say that Buzbee would likely release an edited sex tape of Zuniga and Sharpe that's been edited to paint the latter in a negative light.

To combat their claims, Davis released several text messages he said Zuniga sent Sharpe during their relationship.

"To set the record straight, we are releasing several of Ms. Zuniga's own explicit text messages to Mr. Sharpe that clearly indicate the nature of their relationship was consensual and sexual in nature — and, in many cases, initiated by her with specific and graphic requests," the statement read.

The text messages released are graphic in nature; however, according to Davis, both parties enjoyed roleplaying with each other.

"I want you to put a dog collar around my neck and choke me with it while you're f-cking me," one message read, while another said Sharpe could have "each cheek" for "$25k."

Another text allegedly sent to Sharpe asked the Hall of Famer to put his "baby gravy in me," while another told him to "put a big black baby in me."

In his response to the noise, Sharpe claimed he was the target of a shakedown; however, he was determined to clear his name.

“To my family, friends, supporters, and colleagues, I want to speak to you directly and from the heart,” Sharpe said. “This is a shakedown. I’m gonna be open, transparent, and defend myself, because this isn’t right."

Later, on April 22, Sharpe's lawyer admitted the media personality attempted to settle the case out of court by offering "at least" $10 million. However, Zuniga chose to walk away from the mediation table, seemingly implying she and Buzbee are looking to take things to court.
