Following the release of Cardi B's freshman album, "Invasion of Privacy," which skyrocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and featured the hits "Bodak Yellow" and "I Like It," fans have been begging the former reality star for more.
Since then, Cardi has released one-off singles, like "Money" and "WAP," but no full-length studio album. However, after her latest interview, that may not be the case for much longer.
While speaking with Billboard at the Revolve Festival, Cardi B told her fans that her sophomore album is finally on the way, but based on their reaction, they don't seem moved.
Cardi B Says Her Upcoming Album Is 'Messy' And Will Make You Want To Fight

On TikTok, Billboard shared a clip of their interview with Cardi B, whose last solo single was released in 2023, and she shared some major details about her upcoming project.
"I almost want to say the name because that's what it'll be about," Cardi said before revealing the album name is what the project "represents."
"I feel like my album is messy. She's a messy queen," she added.
Cardi B's Album Is Totally 'Unexpected'

Cardi B went on to say that her project would be something nobody would see coming from her, especially since it has a unique sound different from what's currently being released.
"I feel like it's unexpected, and I feel like it's something that's not really out right now," she said. "It's gonna be things that people do expect me and a lot of things people don't expect from me."
The mother of three said the album contains a lot of "lover girl" content before hinting that her split from rapper Offset inspired some of the music.
However, that's not all her fans can expect. The "Love & Hip Hop" alum noted some of the music will make listeners want to fight.
Some Users Aren't Convinced Cardi's Album Will Be A Hit

In the comment section of Billboard's TikTok, users began responding to Cardi's claims about her upcoming album, saying they weren't that moved by her announcement.
"Mind you, we been talking about this one album for six years," someone wrote, while another slammed her for continuously "talking about this imaginary album."
Someone else clearly agreed, since they wrote that the album would be a "flop."
Other netizens pointed out that Cardi's hesitation to share more details about the project could mean she doesn't actually have anything created.
"Her response tells [us] she ain't dropping no album," someone opined, while another wrote, "She doesn't even know how to describe it because she didn't write a single word on it."
But their critical comments didn't end there. Someone else likened Cardi B to Rihanna, who hasn't released a full-length studio album since 2016 when she dropped "Anti."
"Cardi turning into the next Rihanna with this album," a user said, while another said they don't see the project ever hitting streaming services.
"She's still saying the same stuff," they commented. "Just be quiet, Cardi. Let the music speak. Whenever it decides to speak."
Cardi B Recently Submitted Trademark Applications For Possible Album Titles

In 2024, The Blast reported on Cardi B's trademark applications, which reportedly contained different names for tracks on her upcoming album.
The legal petition stated that the two phrases "Defamation of Character" and "Intrusive Thoughts" would be used for creative purposes, including music videos, downloadable music files, and more.
It's still unclear how the phrases would be used (if they're used at all); however, the safe bet is to point to song or potential album titles.
Sources close to the performer noted that she was determined to release new music.
Cardi B Announced Pregnancy After Announcing Divorce From Offset

Aside from her music, another reason Cardi is in the headlines is her ongoing divorce drama with rapper Offset.
After announcing her divorce, Cardi made another surprising statement and shared she was pregnant with their third child.
"With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you. You have brought me more love, more life, and most of all, renewed my power," she wrote on Instagram.
Cardi continued, "You've reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion! I love you so much and cannot wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish."
