Charli XCX may have lit up the Coachella stage, but it was her after-party moment that really made waves.
The "360" singer, born Charlotte Aitchison, grabbed fans' attention on social media after posting snapshots from a star-studded afterparty in Indio, California, following her electrifying set during the first weekend of the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
In one of the standout images, Charli XCX posed in a white mini dress adorned with a silk sash that read, “Miss Should Be Headliner.”

The detail didn’t go unnoticed, especially considering Charli performed the same night Green Day headlined the festival. Many fans quickly interpreted the sash as a subtle jab at the legendary punk-rock band.
“Please, as if she’s the same caliber as Green Day, and I’m not even that into Green Day,” one social media user commented on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
Another added, “I loathe Green Day, but they’re way bigger and more well-known than she is.”
A third wrote, “To the main public, she’s not bigger than Green Day."
Others mocked her recent rise in popularity. “One ‘summer’ album and these girls are acting like they’re bigger than everyone else," one X user expressed.

Still, Charli’s supporters didn’t hesitate to jump to her defense.
“Charli deserved that headline slot, no cap," one fan posted.
Another chimed in, “Coachella letting Charli get this disrespected needs to be investigated… imagine picking Green Day over the future of pop.”
A third added, “It’s the way ‘I love it’ is bigger than the entire career of Green Day."

Charli’s set on Saturday was far from low-key as she surprised the crowd by bringing out major names like Billie Eilish, Lorde, and Troye Sivan.
Back in February, she earned eight nominations at the 2025 Grammy Awards for her Brat era, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for “360.” She took home her first-ever Grammy, winning Best Dance/Electronic Music Album.
During the ceremony, she also delivered a standout performance, channeling the energy of an underground rave with electrifying renditions of “Von Dutch” and “Guess.”

The following night, she threw a private afterparty at the Guess Jeans compound, joined by a long list of celebrity guests including Julia Fox, Reneé Rapp, Anya Taylor-Joy, Timothée Chalamet, Justin Bieber, and Cara Delevingne.
Inside the stylish private house, an invite-only guest list sipped on curated craft cocktails provided by Patrón El Alto and Gin & Juice.

Meanwhile, Green Day, made up of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool, delivered a high-octane headline set that had the crowd roaring from the moment they launched into “American Idiot.”
Their performance left many wondering why it took so long for the legendary punk trio to grace Coachella’s main stage. With thunderous crowd reactions and a stage presence as commanding as ever, their long-awaited debut didn’t just feel overdue, it felt like the beginning of a tradition that should continue.
True to their roots, the band didn’t hold back on provocative moments. They kicked off with “American Idiot,” swapping in the lyric “I’m not a part of a MAGA agenda,” and later referenced “kids in Palestine” during a powerful rendition of “Jesus of Suburbia.”
Both acts are set to return for Coachella’s second weekend, leaving fans eager to see if the headline debate, and the rumored shade, will continue to simmer under the desert sun.
