Weezer’s Scott Shriner took the stage at Coachella over the weekend, just days after a harrowing incident involving his wife, writer Jillian Lauren Shriner, who was shot by police outside their Los Angeles home and charged with attempted murder.

Shriner performed alongside bandmates Rivers Cuomo, Brian Bell, and Patrick Wilson during the Indio, California music festival without publicly addressing the shooting.

Weezer, which Shriner joined in 2001, was a late addition to Coachella’s first weekend lineup, announced only shortly before the incident.

The shocking turn of events unfolded last Wednesday in Eagle Rock, a neighborhood in northeast Los Angeles.

As The Blast reported, Jillian was wounded in the shoulder by police after allegedly pointing a firearm at officers from her front yard. She was absentee booked on suspicion of attempted murder while receiving medical attention.

The LAPD said she was not involved in the initial hit-and-run crash that triggered a police search in the area.

The chaos began when a suspect fled the scene of a three-car collision on the 134 Freeway and entered a neighbor’s property near the Shriners’ home. The man, along with two other suspects, allegedly attempted to evade capture by blending into the neighborhood, at one point watering plants in boxer shorts.

As the pursuit continued, Jillian reportedly exited her house with a firearm. Police allege that despite repeated commands, she did not drop the weapon and instead pointed it at officers, prompting them to open fire. She was struck in the shoulder and ran back into the house before emerging again with a babysitter, both raising their hands and complying with police orders.

A nine-millimeter handgun was later recovered from the residence.

In a brief exchange outside his home the following day, Weezer's Scott Shriner offered a simple update, telling reporters, “She’s alright, thank you for asking,” before redirecting attention to his upcoming gig. “See you at Coachella,” he added at the time, referring to Weezer's scheduled performance.

Despite the dramatic backdrop, Shriner delivered a high-energy performance with Weezer on Saturday, treating fans to hits like "My Name Is Jonas," "Hash Pipe," and "Pork and Beans." Dressed in a short-sleeve yellow button-up and light jeans, he played with a cheetah-print guitar strap, fully immersed in the set.

Jillian’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and she was released from custody after posting a $1 million bond.
