Reflective Teddi Mellencamp Makes Candid Admission Amid Cancer Battle

Teddi Mellencamp is giving fans a peek into the physical changes she is going through amid her ongoing battle with stage 4 cancer.

Recall that the actress received the cancer diagnosis about three years ago and has remained open about her challenges with the illness since then.

Although Mellencamp is focused on being strong and has managed to stay positive, she recently assured fans going through challenges that it was okay to feel down sometimes.

On Wednesday, the “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum gave fans a glimpse of the bald spot on her head while detailing the hair loss she had experienced.

Taking to Instagram, Mellencamp shared photos of her hair before and after cancer treatment.

The first picture showed the reality TV star with full, healthy-looking, wavy blonde hair. However, in the second photo, Mellencamp rocked a buzz cut with a large bald spot on one side of her head.

In the post’s caption, she revealed the time difference between both photos was four months. “What a difference 4 months makes,” she said.

Mellencamp also shared how she forgot feeling sad about her situation was okay. “Sometimes I am so focused on ‘being strong’ that I forget I am allowed to be sad, cry it out, and feel very alone. I love my kids, friends, and family so much and am forever grateful to them but dang today is one of those days,” the 43-year-old noted.

The mother of three went further, assuring fans who were going through tough situations that they weren’t alone. “PS. I have watched Netflix and Hulu, what do I watch next,” she finished.

Before dropping a glimpse of her hair, Mellencamp had already informed fans about the sad transformation.

In an Instagram post shared on April 6, she posted an emotional update about her cancer battle.

The reality TV star asked her fans for wig recommendations, as she revealed a part of her head was completely bald. She also shared a selfie showing off her new look.

“The other side of my head is completely bald. Please refer your fave non-itchy or hot wigs. Dear half-wig/half-baseball caps from Amazon…let’s do better. I was so excited for you. You hurt my feelings,” the post's caption read.

Mellencamp's candid admission comes after she revealed that her father, John, is making plans to give her a proper funeral if she loses her cancer battle.

She made the revelation during a recent episode of her podcast, “Two T’s In A Pod.”

The former reality TV star detailed a terrifying conversation she had with her dad.

She said she was relaxing in the bath when John called 11 times. When she finally picked, he brought up the idea of including her in the family mausoleum.

Mellencamp told her co-host, Tamra Judge, that she agreed with her father’s thoughts and would need to visit Indiana to see her grave.

However, despite the revelation, fans remain hopeful that things will not take a drastic turn.

Mellencamp left fans disheartened in October 2022 when she announced that she was diagnosed with stage two melanoma.

The TV star said she received the diagnosis after she went in for her routine three-month skin check since her previous melanoma.

According to Mellencamp, doctors discovered an abnormal spot near the previous site and did a biopsy. Sadly, results showed her skin cancer had returned.

Despite the diagnosis, Mellencamp remained hopeful. She advised fans to always take doctors’ appointments seriously, adding that she wanted to miss her visit as she doubted anything could happen in three months.

“This has been such a wakeup call for me, and I hope to all of you, to love and protect the skin you’re in,” she wrote.

Teddi Mellencamp had about 17 melanomas removed over the course of three years, 11 of which were removed in December 2022.

Everything seemed to be getting better until she revealed that the melanoma had metastasized to her brain and lungs.

In a post, Mellencamp shared that she went for a checkup after experiencing constant headaches. Sadly, a CT scan and MRI showed multiple tumors on her brain, which doctors believed had been growing for about six months.

Recently, Mellencamp made the sad revelation that her cancer had reached stage 4. She expressed her gratitude for their support and highlighted the mixed emotions she experienced.
