Kate Gosselin Will Reportedly Kick-Start Romance 'The Old Fashioned Way'

Kate Gosselin is ready to reenter the dating scene but only if it is done the old-fashioned way. The former reality star is reportedly open to finding love again but says dating apps are off the table. 

Her cautious return to love comes on the heels of a major life reset. In 2022, Kate relocated to North Carolina after years of highly publicized family drama, saying goodbye to the spotlight for privacy.

Kate Gosselin was previously married to Jon Gosselin, with the pair exchanging vows in 1999 before officially divorcing in 2009.

Kate Gosselin Swore Off Dating Apps After One Bad Run

Kate may be ready for romance, but she is not chasing it with a profile and a swipe. The 50-year-old reportedly swore off dating apps after "trying that route and hating it."

A source close to Kate said she is "not dating anyone" but "Wants to meet a guy through friends or the old-fashioned way, in a supermarket or coffee shop."

After her high-profile divorce from Jon, Kate was linked to millionaire entrepreneur Jeff Prescott in 2015. In Touch reports that at the time, the two had known each other for over a year and briefly dated before things fizzled out by that fall.

Then, in 2019, Kate tried her luck with "Kate Plus Date," a short-lived reality dating show that aired just six episodes.

The Former TV Personality Embraced A New Life After Relocating to North Carolina

Despite being open to love now, Kate reportedly found peace and happiness after leaving the public eye behind in 2022. Once a media fixture, she quietly settled into a new life in Troutman, North Carolina, away from the cameras.

As reported by The Blast, Kate had been planning her move for years, and she made the leap after losing custody of her son, Collin, and daughter, Hannah.

She downsized from her sprawling 24-acre Pennsylvania estate to a more modest .88-acre property on Lake Norman. A close source revealed that Kate is "very happy and at peace" in her new home, which boasts a pool, hot tub, owner's suite, and an extended garage.

Collin Gosselin Opened Up About Strained Relationship With His Mother Following Her Move 

In the same interview, Collin shed light on the strained bond with his mother, Kate, following her move to North Carolina. The 20-year-old revealed that their relationship had been troubled long before his mother made the controversial decision to institutionalize him in 2018 for behavioral issues.

Collin explained their history, "Even before [being] there, I don't think we had much of a relationship, and I think that just kept tearing it even more down." He attributed much of the family's distance to the pressures of being in the public eye, which he believes ultimately impacted their connection.

Although Collin expressed hope for reconciliation, he acknowledged that he would not "sit around and mourn and cry about it," admitting it was unfortunate they had not been closer. "Every son wants to have a relationship with their mom," he stated.

Kate Gosselin Breaks Silence On Her Son's Claims

After nearly a year of silence, Kate addressed the strained relationship with her son, Collin, in a heartbreaking Instagram post. The Blast reported that she subtly challenged his claims from an interview, where he spoke about their damaged relationship. 

In her post, Kate explained that Collin had been diagnosed with "multiple psychiatric" conditions, which led to his inpatient treatment due to "unpredictable and violent behavior."

"I have never wanted to have to do this, but I feel I have been backed into a corner and left with no choice. Although it saddens me to do so, I need to speak out now," Kate shared, expressing her deep love for her son. 

She emphasized that Collin's placement in a facility was for his safety and well-being after "years of outpatient treatment which proved insufficient for his needs."

The Mother-Of-Eight Claims Collin Attacked Her With A Weapon

In her shocking revelation, Kate also accused Collin of attacking her with a weapon, an incident she claims was pivotal in her decision to seek psychiatric help for him.

She explained, "The decision to admit him was made by emergency room doctors following one of his many attacks/outbursts — this one involving his use of a weapon."

Kate further described the ongoing struggles, noting that after her ex-husband  Jon removed Collin from treatment, his violent behavior continued, affecting not only his father but also his sister, Hannah, and others around him.

"Collin's distorted perception of reality is one of the many issues that he has always struggled with," Kate said, acknowledging the complexity of dealing with mental health issues in a family.
