English singer-songwriter Lily Allen and British television presenter Miquita Oliver have defended Rachel Zegler amid the controversy surrounding "Snow White."
Recently, movie producer Marc Platt's son, Jonah Platt, blasted Zegler, blaming her for the film's poor box office performance.
However, Allen and Oliver stood up for Zegler amid the criticism coming her way, noting that she has every right to stand up for what she believes in.
Miquita Oliver Blasts Jonah Platt Over 'Narcissistic' Comment Aimed At Rachel Zegler

Allen and Oliver joined the conversation surrounding the "Snow White" controversy during a recent episode of their "Miss Me?" podcast titled "A Damsel In Distress."
The pair dismissed the criticism of Zegler and questioned the real reason for the film's poor reception.
During the discussion, Oliver called out Platt for attacking Zegler for expressing her political views, noting that it was hypocritical of him to do so, particularly in light of some of his own outspoken beliefs.
She said per NME, "Interestingly, he assumes her political beliefs have no place anywhere and that she is narcissistic to even have them. [But] if you go on his page, he is very political, pro-Israel, and his political beliefs are all over the output he puts in the world."
Oliver added, "So it's a very confusing situation and incredible that they've put the blame on this 20-year-old girl."

Allen also pushed back against the idea that Zegler's activism is inappropriate, pointing out that standing up for what one believes in is a fundamental theme in Disney films.
The "Not Fair" singer explained, "In terms of Disney films, it's always quite central to anyone's character that they stand up for what they believe in."
She added, "Isn't it that the protagonist usually has some sort of struggle where they have to stand up in adversity? So [Platt] can go f-ck himself, basically."
Allen also dismissed claims that the film's portrayal of Snow White was overly "woke." She argued that the idea of female characters controlling their own stories has long been part of Disney's narratives.
Meanwhile, Oliver suggested that the film's struggles at the box office and poor audience reception likely have little to do with Zegler at all.
She noted, "The CGI used to make the Seven Dwarfs was really bad. It ["Snow White"] might just be a bit sh-t, and not Rachel Zegler's fault."

Last week, Marc Platt's son, Jonah, made headlines after he responded to an Instagram comment questioning his dad's actions.
An earlier report from Variety revealed that Marc traveled to New York to meet with Zegler about her controversial political statements.
The user questioned, "Your dad flew to NYC to reprimand a young actress? Any words on this? Cuz that's creepy as hell and uncalled for. People have the right to free speech no? Shame on your father."
However, Jonah responded to the user, "You really want to do this? Yeah, my dad, the producer of enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20-year-old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million-dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for."
Jonah Blames Zegler For 'Snow White' Box Office Failure

Jonah continued by noting that the criticism aimed at Zegler was "adult responsibility and accountability," adding that her actions "clearly hurt the film's box office."
He continued, "Free speech does not mean you're allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions."
The film producer's son also wrote, "Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of all the colleagues and crew and blue-collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful."
He continued, "Narcissism is not something to be cobbled or encouraged."
Fans Blast Jonah Over His Criticism Of Rachel Zegler

Jonah Platt's criticism of Zegler was met with mixed reactions from fans, some of whom dragged the former's family into the controversy.
One person wrote, "'Had to leave his family' is a crazy thing to say about a 67-year-old billionaire with adult children."
Another person joked, "Momma Platt holding 38-year-old Jonah and 31-year-old Ben in her arms: 'You're going to see HER again, aren't you, while I'm here raising our babies."
A third fan added, "Jonah Platt is damn near 40 and popping veins over a girl born in 2001 in Instagram comments."
Another person opined, "Worry about your failed acting career instead of harassing young women."
